# Auto-block IP from high-risk orders at checkout (Shopify Plus)

## Overview

Stop a fraudster from coming back to place another order. When **Fraud Filters** marks an order as high-risk, **Auto-block IP from high-risk orders at checkout** adds that order's IP address to your **Block checkout access** rules, so nobody can complete another checkout from that IP address. It is a single checkbox under **Quick Setup** on the **Block Checkout** page.

## How it works?

From then on, each time Fraud Filters marks an order as high-risk, Blockify creates a rule in the **Block checkout access** list with:

* **Source:** Auto – #[Order number]
* **Status:** Enabled (ON)

A visitor who reaches the checkout from that IP sees "Unfortunately, you won't be able to complete checkout" and the order is not created. Open the rule and edit **Error message** to change the text for that IP.

| Blockify only adds orders that have an IP address saved; orders without one are skipped. The feature covers high-risk orders placed after you tick the box — Blockify doesn't go back and add older high-risk orders.

The feature only blocks future checkouts from the IP. What happens to the high-risk order itself (Cancel order automatically or Flag order) depends on the actions you chose in **Fraud Filters**.

## Finding the rules this feature created

The rules are in **Block Checkout > Block checkout access**. Their **Source** column reads **Auto** followed by the order number, which opens the order in Shopify; rules you created yourself read **Manual**. The list has no Source filter; scan the **Source** column to find them.

You can edit or delete these rules like any other.

## Who can use this feature?

Available on the **Shopify Plus** plan.

## FAQs

1. **Will this block a real customer?**
Only if Fraud Filters marked their order as high-risk. If Fraud Filters got it wrong, delete the Auto rule for their IP from **Block checkout access** and they can check out again.

2. **Does it block the visitor from browsing the store?**
No. The rule only stops the checkout. To block the visitor from your whole store, use **Auto-block visitors placing fraud orders** or add the IP in **Block & Re-director**.

3. **Why was no rule created for a high-risk order?**
The order had no IP address saved, it was placed before you turned the feature on, or Fraud Filters was off at the time.

4. **How many rules will this create?**
One per high-risk order with an IP. Watch the **Checkout validation usage** counter on the Block Checkout page and delete old Auto rules if it turns amber.
