# Block checkout (for Shopify Plus only)

### How to use:

Step 1: Go to Block Checkout tab >> Block Checkout Access tab >>  Click on one of the following fields: IP Address, Location, User Agent, ISP, VPN/Proxy.

Step 2: **At the Create Rule screen:**
Select the rule type that matches your needs: **Block** or **Whitelist**.
* **Block:** Prevents orders from being created when the configured conditions are met.
* **Whitelist:** Allows orders to be created when the configured conditions are met.

Step 3: Enter the value you want to block/allow >> click Save to create rule

**Notes for all block rules**
You can add a **private note** when creating a rule to record the reason for blocking. This note is only visible to you or your team and will **not be shown to customers**. (This note is a recent update and is displayed at the end of each rule.)

After saving successfully, the created rules will be displayed in the **Block Checkout Access – Rule List**.
On the rule list screen, you can perform the following actions:
* Enable or disable a rule
* Edit an existing rule
* Delete a rule

**For Block rules:**
Once set up correctly, orders that meet the configured conditions will not be created. Instead, the checkout page will display the warning message you have configured.

**Note:**
* To ensure the rule works correctly, you must add the checkout block to your theme. Please follow the steps in [this article](https://help.omegatheme.com/en/article/instruction-to-add-checkout-blocks-for-shopify-plus-only-p3g4vw/#3-what-are-the-app-blocks-for-themes)
* If you do not configure a message, the default message will be displayed.
* If both **Block** and **Whitelist** rules are configured, **Whitelist rules take priority**.
