# Configure Return Address and Warehouse

## Overview

The Synctrack return address allows you to manage multiple return warehouses so that returns are routed to the correct location based on the logistics setup.

## How to set up the Return address?
### Step 1: Go to Settings > Warehouses

### Step 2: Add the details of Warehouse information

**This is including:**
* **Store name: to display name on email and other places.**
* **Email address: this mail will be used to contact customers.**

### Step 3: Sync warehouses with Shopify

1. Click "Sync from Shopify" to sync all address from your Store location admin

2. You can bring your Shopify locations into Synctrack with **Sync from Shopify**, or create a warehouse in Synctrack and have it created in Shopify at the same time.

### Sync warehouses with Shopify Locations
* **Create a warehouse:** in the create form, **Also create this location in Shopify** is checked by default. Synctrack creates the matching Shopify location first, then saves the warehouse. If Shopify rejects the address, the warehouse is **not saved** and the error is shown on the field (for example "City: …"). Fix the field, or uncheck the box to keep the warehouse in Synctrack only.
* **No duplicates:** if Shopify already has a location with the same address or the same name, Synctrack links to that location instead of creating a new one.
* **Status badges:** **Synced** means the warehouse is linked to a Shopify location. **App only** means it exists in Synctrack only.
* **Push existing warehouses:** for an **App only** warehouse, open the row menu (**…**) → **Push to Shopify** → **Confirm**. If a matching location already exists, the result shows **Already exists** and the warehouse is linked to it. Warehouses are pushed one at a time.
* **Edit:** editing a **Synced** warehouse also updates its Shopify location. If Shopify rejects the change, the edit is not saved.
* **Changes made in Shopify:** when you add or edit a location in Shopify Admin, Synctrack creates or updates the matching warehouse automatically. Shopify's details win. If you delete the location in Shopify, the warehouse stays in Synctrack and switches to **App only**.

### Step 4: Set a default return address
In **Settings → Warehouses**, open the row menu of the address you use most and click **Set as default**. The address is then marked with a **Default** badge.
The default address is the one Synctrack puts first whenever your customer is shown more than one return address. Setting it does not stop you from using the other addresses, it only decides which one leads.

## How it works?
1. **How the return address is chosen**?
A return can get its address in one of two ways:
* **Automatically, by a workflow.** If a condition-based workflow with the action **Route to the return address / warehouse** matches the return, Synctrack locks that warehouse to the return the moment it is created. This wins over everything else.
* **Manually, by you.** If no workflow routed the return, you pick the address while approving the request, exactly as before.
* When a return has not been routed and you have not picked an address, Synctrack shows your customer the full list of your return addresses, with the **Default** one first.

2. **Where the return address appears**
Once a return is routed to a warehouse, that single address is used everywhere your customer sees it:
* the **return address on the packing slip**,
* the **return address in the email notification** sent to your customer,
* the address shown on the return portal after the request is submitted.
If the return was never routed, the email lists every return address you have set up, so your customer can choose where to ship.

| The return address will be handled by merchant for the prepaid label, any carrier shipping method. In contrast, for return to store location, customer will choose by their own.

### Deleting a warehouse
If you delete a return address that a live workflow routes to, Synctrack does not silently break the workflow. The workflow is switched to **Draft** and stops running until you point it at another address and enable it again. Check **Settings → Workflows** after removing an address.
Deleting a warehouse only removes it from Synctrack. The matching Shopify location is kept. If you later click **Sync from Shopify**, or edit that location in Shopify, it will be imported again.

### Permissions
Creating and editing Shopify locations requires the **manage locations** permission. If Shopify asks you to approve updated app permissions, accept them to use this feature.

### Why doesn't my synced warehouse show on the return portal?
A newly created Shopify location has no inventory yet. The portal shows warehouses based on where the returned products are stocked, so a new location may not appear until products are stocked there.
