# Discount Usage Limit

This feature allows merchants to control how many times a discount can be used.


###### **Requirements**

To use the Discount Usage Limit feature, please install the [**P: Quantity Breaks & Discounts**](https://apps.shopify.com/quantity-price-breaks-limit-purchase) app. Create at least one discount campaign in the app

###### Setup

1. Select type

Go to **Limit purchase** from the admin menu, click **Create limit**, the select the **Discount limit** tab

2. Select Discount Campaign

Choose the discount campaign you want to set usage limits for.

Only active campaigns created in the **P: Quantity Breaks & Discounts** app can be selected

3.  Set Usage Limits

Enter total usage limit: set the maximum number of times the discount can be used (set 0 if you do not want to limit total usage)

Choose usage scope: 

* **Lifetime**: Limit total usages for the entire lifetime of the discount.
* **Per day**: Limit total usages in one day.
* **Per month**: Limit total usages in one month.
* **Per year**: Limit total usages in one year.

Enter usage limit per customer: set how many times each customer can us the discount (set 0 if you do not want to limit usage per customer)

4.  Limit Behavior
Choose what happens when a discount reaches its usage limit:

* **Block checkout**: Customers cannot place an order if the discount has exceeded its limit.
* **Remove discount and allow checkout**: The discount will be removed, but the customer can still complete the order without the discount.

5.  Display settings
Allows you to set the message shown when a discount has reached its usage limit.
