# How to set up COD shipping method?

Use **Cash on delỉvery fee** to link any *COD-style shipping rate* (e.g., “COD (+$2)”, “Cash on Delivery”) with the **Cash on Delivery (COD)** payment method at checkout.
This prevents customers from choosing a COD shipping option but paying by card (or the reverse) and is the foundation for extras like **COD Fee**, **regional restrictions**, and **risk controls**.

1. On the Shopify Admin, navigate to **Shipping and Delivery**

2. Select a rate from **General shipping rates** or C**ustom shipping rates**
    
3. On the **Manage shipping profile**, scroll down to **Shipping zones, and add a new rate**
