# How to set up conversion events in ChatGPT Ads Manager

**Learn how to register conversion events so ChatGPT Ads can report and optimize for the actions TagFly sends.**

> 1. **Why is this step needed?**
> TagFly sends events to your Data Source, but ${color}[#e41111](**ChatGPT Ads only counts an event as a conversion after you register it as a Conversion Event**)
>
> 2. **Before you start:**
> Complete your [Pixel ID](https://help.omegatheme.com/en/article/how-to-find-your-chatgpt-ads-pixel-id-un6exv/) and [Conversion API Key](https://help.omegatheme.com/en/article/how-to-find-your-chatgpt-ads-conversions-api-key-12yu6n0/) set up

#### Step 1: Create a Conversion Event

* 1.1. Sign in to your [**ChatGPT Ads Manager**](https://ads.openai.com) account.

* 1.2. Navigate to **Sidebar** > **Conversions**, then select the **Conversion Events** tab.

* 1.3. Click **+ Create** conversion events

#### Step 2: Custom conversion events

* **2.1. Data source**: select the [Data Source you created for your Shopify store](https://help.omegatheme.com/en/article/how-to-find-your-chatgpt-ads-pixel-id-un6exv/#4-12-if-you-dont-have-a-data-source-yet:~:text=Find%20the%20data%20source%20for%20your%20Shopify%20store%20in%20the%20list.)

If you have no data source, [create new one ](https://help.omegatheme.com/en/article/how-to-find-your-chatgpt-ads-pixel-id-un6exv/#4-12-if-you-dont-have-a-data-source-yet:~:text=In%20the%20Create%20new%20data%20source%20dialog%3A)

* **2.2. Base event**: select the event you want to measure for your store from the dropdown list

| Events you want TagFly to track for your store | Base event to select in ChatGPT Ads |
| ---- | ---- |
| Page View | `page_viewed` |
| View Item | `contents_viewed` |
| Add To Cart | `items_added` |
| Begin Checkout | `checkout_started` |
| Purchase | `order_created` |

* **2.3. Conversion Name**: enter a name for the event. This name will appear in reporting and campaign setup, e.g. “Purchase”.

* 2.4. Click **Create**. Your Events will appear in the Conversion Events tab once created successfully

| Repeat these steps for each event you want to track. We recommend creating at least 'order_created' (Purchase)


#### Step 3: Verify events are arriving

* 3.1. In **Sidebar** > **Conversions**, open the **Event Stream** tab. Click **Start Polling** to see recent incoming events

Your events will appear after a few seconds

* 3.2. In **Conversion Events** tab, check that each event shows activity.

✅ Your conversion events are now set up and active!! 


# Trouble Shooting

1. **Numbers differ from other platforms?** 

* Conversion numbers can differ between ChatGPT Ads Manager and other platforms. This is usually because of different attribution windows, time zones, or deduplication rules. A difference doesn’t necessarily mean tracking is broken.

2. **Seeing 0 or 0% in the Events column?** 

* If the Events column in the **Data Source** or **Conversion Events** tab shows 0 or 0%, please check again after a few hours. Data may take some time to appear in ChatGPT Ads Manager.
