# Import and export limit rules

Export your limit rules to a CSV file, edit them in a spreadsheet, and import them back to set up or update many rules at once.

### How it works

Instead of creating and editing every limit rule by hand, you can export your rules to a CSV file, change the thresholds, schedules, or status in Excel or Google Sheets, and import the file back. Import always shows a preview first, so you can see exactly what will be created, updated, or skipped before anything is written.

1. Export your rules

* Open the **Limit rules** page
* Click Export and choose what to export: All rules, the rule matching your current filter (search + status + date), or your current selection
* The CSV downloads. Only Quantity, Amount, Weight, and Purchase rules are included; if you have other types, the app tells you how many were skipped.

2. Edit the file

Open the CSV in Excel or Google Sheets. Values are shown in plain words (for example `active` / `draft`, `per_day`) rather than codes. Reference fields such as variants have an id column you edit and a label column that helps you read the file. To create new rules from scratch, download the **template** file and fill it in.

> Each rule is usually one row. A rule that applies to a "group of products" uses one main row plus an extra row for each condition.

3. Import rules

* Click **Import** and upload your file (up to **1000 rules** per file).
* Choose whether to tick **Publish all rules after importing** — ticked means the imported rules become **active** right away; unticked means they are saved as **draft**.
* Click **Upload and preview**. The preview shows how many rules will be **created**, how many **updated**, and how many rows have **errors**, with the reason for each error row.
* If there are errors, download the error report, fix the file, and upload again — or click **Confirm** to write only the valid rows.
* Click **Confirm** to apply. When it finishes, the Limits page shows your imported rules.
