# Omega Google Ads: Set Omega's Purchase as your only Primary conversion action in Google Ads

## Why does "only Primary" work?

Omega Google Ads (previously named Trakpilot) creates its own Purchase conversion action in your Google Ads account and sends every order to it. For Google Ads to learn from the right numbers, **this should be the only Primary conversion action for Purchase**.

Google Ads marks each conversion action as one of two types:

- **Primary:** counted in the **Conversions** column and used by Smart Bidding (for example Target ROAS, Maximize conversion value) to decide bids.
- **Secondary:** shown for observation only, in the **All conversions** column. Not used for bidding.

Omega already sets its own actions this way: **Purchase is Primary, other events are Secondary.** The problem comes from **other** Purchase actions in the same account. The most common one is the action created by the **Google & YouTube app** for Shopify. When both are Primary, Google counts the same order twice, because Google only removes duplicates **inside the same conversion action**, never across two different actions.

||| Why it matters: double counted orders inflate your reported conversions and revenue, and Smart Bidding optimizes against the wrong numbers.

**Omega does not change your Google Ads settings for you.** It detects the problem and shows you what to do. The change itself is made in Google Ads (steps below).

## Where Omega tells you about it

| Where in Omega | What you see | What it means |
| ---- | ---- | ---- |
| **Home → Setup Overview → Primary Action Optimization** | Badge `Purchase` | Good. Purchase is the only Primary action. |
| | Badge `Multiple primary actions` | More than one Primary action in the account. Follow the steps below. |
| | Badge with an action name, for example `Add to cart` | The only Primary action is not Purchase. Make Omega's Purchase Primary and set that action to Secondary. |
| | Badge `No primary action` | No Primary action at all. Make Omega's Purchase Primary. |
| **Google Ads Audit → Conversion → Only Omega's Purchase action is Primary** | Needs attention | Another Purchase action is also Primary. Follow the steps below. |

Notes:

- The Primary Action Optimization item on Home is complete only when Purchase is the single Primary action. It has no button, it is a status.
- If you run several Google Ads accounts, one per market, each account is checked on its own and needs the same fix.

## How to fix it in Google Ads

Do this in the Google Ads account connected to Omega. Repeat for each connected account.

### Step 1. Find the Primary Purchase actions

1. Open Google Ads → **Goals** → **Conversions** → **Summary**.
2. Find the **Purchase** goal. Exxpand and look at every conversion action listed under it.
3. Note which ones are **Primary** and which one is Omega's/Trakpilot's. Omega's action is the one created by Omega with the source **Import from clicks**. An action created by the Google & YouTube app is a website / Google tag action.

### Step 2. Set every other Primary Purchase action to Secondary

1. Click the conversion action that is **not** Omega's.
2. Click **Edit settings**.
3. Under **Action optimization**, choose **Secondary action not used for bidding optimization**.
4. Click **Save**.

### Step 3. Make sure Omega's/Trakpilot's Purchase action is Primary

Open Omega's action → **Edit settings** → **Action optimization** → choose the Primary option → **Save**. If it already says Primary, nothing to do.

### Step 4. Check in Omega (update on October 21st: feature implementing, not released yet)

Open the Omega app and check **Home → Primary Action Optimization**. The badge should read `Purchase`. Also check the Google Ads Audit item. Omega reads Google Ads again on its next check, so the status may not update immediately.

### What to expect afterwards

- Your **Conversions** column will go **down**. This is the correct number: before, orders were counted twice. Google does **not** fix past data, so the drop applies from the day you make the change.
- The Secondary action keeps showing in **All conversions**, so you can still observe it.
- Keep the Google & YouTube tag if you like. It can run alongside Omega as a Secondary action without double counting.

### Which action should stay Primary?

**We recommend Omega's/Trakpilot's Purchase.** It also covers orders that go through third-party or cash on delivery checkouts, which the Google & YouTube app cannot see, and it sends Enhanced Conversions. If a merchant prefers to keep the other action as Primary, set Omega's Purchase to Secondary instead, and accept that those orders will not be used for bidding.

||| Please do not

\- Delete or remove Omega's/Trakpilot's conversion action. Omega turns it back on or recreates it if it detects it is removed, and tells you in the app.
\- Set both Purchase actions to Secondary. Then no Purchase action is used for bidding.

## Support cases

| Customer says / keyword | What it means | How CS supports |
| ---- | ---- | ---- |
| "Orders in Google Ads are about twice what Shopify shows" | Two Primary Purchase actions, Omega and Google & YouTube app, are counting the same orders. | 1) Ask the customer to open Goals → Conversions → Summary. <br>2) Confirm two Primary actions under Purchase.<br>3) Walk them through Step 2 and Step 3 above. <br>4) Tell them the number will drop from that day on. |
| Badge `Multiple primary actions` on Home | More than one Primary action in the account. Not always Purchase duplicates. | Ask which actions are Primary. Keep only Omega's Purchase Primary and set the others to Secondary. |
| Badge shows an action name, for example `Add to cart` | A non-Purchase action is the only Primary. | Set that action to Secondary and set Omega's Purchase to Primary. |
| Badge `No primary action` | Nothing is Primary, or Omega's Purchase action is missing or paused. | Check Omega's action exists and is enabled, then set it to Primary. |
| "I fixed it but Omega still shows the warning" | Omega has not read Google Ads again yet, or the change was made in a different Google Ads account. | Ask which account they edited and whether it is the account connected to Omega. Ask them to check again later. If the settings are correct in Google Ads and the warning stays, escalate. |
| "My conversions dropped after the change" | Expected. Double counted orders were removed. Google does not change past data. | Explain it is the correct number. Compare with Shopify orders, not with the old Google Ads number. |
| "Which one should I keep Primary?" | Both options work, but only one should be Primary. | Recommend Omega's Purchase because it covers eligible third-party and cash on delivery orders, and sends Enhanced Conversions. The final choice is the merchant's. |
| "I have several markets / Google Ads accounts" | Each account has its own Omega action and its own Primary settings. | Repeat the steps for each account. |
| "Can Omega fix this for me?" | No. Omega does not edit the customer's Google Ads settings. | Guide the customer through the steps. Offer a screen share if they are stuck. |

**Before escalating to dev, collect:**

- Store domain and Google Ads account ID.
- A screenshot of Goals → Conversions → Summary showing the Purchase actions and their Primary / Secondary status.
- A screenshot of the Home badge or the Google Ads Audit item.
- When the customer made the change.

## FAQ

1. **Does Omega set my other actions to Secondary? →** Omega creates its own actions with Purchase as Primary and other events as Secondary. It does not touch conversion actions that it did not create.
2. **Does a Secondary action still affect my bidding? →** The Secondary label by itself keeps it out of the Conversions column and out of bidding. Check your campaign goal settings if a customer uses custom conversion goals, because a Secondary action can still be added to bidding through a custom goal.
3. **Will I lose data if I set the other action to Secondary? →** No. The action keeps recording and appears in **All conversions**. Only its use for bidding changes.
