### 2. Profit Leak Report
See exactly how much profit your quotes are giving away — and which quotes, customers and products are responsible.
Where to find it: **Analytics → Profit leak report**

1. **What the Profit Leak Report does**
When you send a quote, you decide the price. What the price does to your margin is usually invisible until the order is already won. The Profit Leak Report closes that gap: it compares every quote you sent against a target profit margin of 20% and adds up the profit you gave away on the quotes that fell short.
It answers four questions in one screen:
•     How much profit did we lose in this period by quoting too low?
•     Is it getting better or worse over time?
•     Which customers are we consistently under-pricing for?
•     Which products drag our margin down the most?

||| **Good to know**
**The report never changes a quote. It is read-only analysis — you decide what to do with it.**
Only quotes below the target margin count toward lost profit. High-margin quotes do not cancel them out.

4. **Report Detail**

5. **How the numbers are calculated**
* **Step 1 — Actual profit**
For each quote, QuoteSnap adds up the cost of everything on it (cost per item × quantity) and subtracts that from the quote value.
||| Actual profit  =  Quote value  −  (cost per item × quantity, summed over all line items)
* **Step 2 — Margin**
||| Margin %  =  Actual profit  ÷  Quote value  × 100
* **Step 3 — Is the quote below target?**
The target margin is 20%. A quote with a margin under 20% is a leaking quote and appears in the table and the breakdowns. A quote at or above 20% does not.
* **Step 4 — Lost profit**
Lost profit is the distance back up to the target — the extra profit that quote would have produced at a 20% margin.
||| Lost profit  =  (Quote value × 20%)  −  Actual profit
The Lost profit card at the top is the sum of that figure across every below-target quote in the selected period.
