# Selecting Products for Sync

Omega Feed lets you decide exactly which products — and which variants of those products — end up in a feed. Three settings control this:

1. **Product source → What to sync** — which products go in.
2. **Exclude products** — which products are taken back out.
3. **Variant selection** — how many variants of each product are listed.

## Product source: what to sync

|| Only **Active** products in your Shopify store are eligible for a feed. Products in **Draft** or **Archived** status are never synced, no matter which option you pick.

* **All products** — best for stores that want their whole catalog advertised.
* **Products from collections** — best for stores that already organize their catalog by collection (e.g. "Google Ads", "Best sellers", "Summer 2026").
* **Products in specific tags** — best for merchants who use tags (e.g. `google-feed`, `no-ads`) to control what gets advertised.
* **Pick individual products** — best for small, curated feeds where you want to approve every item.

| Your situation | Choose |
| ---- |
| Advertise the whole catalog | All products |
| Catalog is bigger than your plan limit | All products within plan limit |
| Catalog is already grouped for advertising | Products from collections |
| You mark advertisable products with tags | Products in specific tags |
| You want to approve every single item | Pick individual products |

## Exclude products

Sometimes the easiest way to describe a feed is "everything **except** these". Tick **Exclude products** and choose one of:

* **Exclude by collection** — every Active product in the selected collections is left out.
* **Exclude by tags**— every Active product in the selected tags is left out.
* **Exclude individual products** — the specific products you pick are left out.

## Variant selection

**Variant selection** does *not* change which products are in the feed — it changes **how many rows each product contributes**. A product with 5 variants can appear as 5 feed items or just 1, depending on this setting.

* **All variants** — every variant is submitted as its own feed item. Best for products whose variants differ in ways shoppers search on (price, image, size, color) or where availability varies per variant. This is the most complete option and usually the best choice for Google Shopping.
* **First variant only** — only the first variant in each product's variant list (the order shown in Shopify) is submitted. Best for catalogs where variants are near-identical and one representative item per product is enough.
* **Lowest-priced variant only** — only the lowest-priced variant is submitted. Best for showing the most attractive "from" price in your ads.

| Products with a single variant behave identically under all three options. Variant selection is applied per feed, so you can run *All variants* on one channel and *Lowest-priced variant only* on another.

| Your goal | Choose |
| ---- |
| List every size/color so shoppers find the exact item | All variants |
| One item per product | First variant only |
| Advertise the lowest available price | Lowest-priced variant only |

## Troubleshooting

### A product isn't in my feed
Check in order: is it **Active** in Shopify? Is it inside the source you selected (collection, tag, or manual list)? Is it caught by an exclusion? Has the sync finished running?

### I added new products but they aren't showing up
*Pick individual products* is a static list — new products must be added manually. All other options pick up new Active products on the next sync.

### I see fewer items than I have products
That's expected with *First variant only* and *Cheapest variant only* — one item per product. It can also mean you're on *All products within plan limit* and your catalog exceeds the plan maximum.

### The options are greyed out
Either a sync is currently running (wait for the progress bar to complete), or the option needs a higher plan — look for the upgrade badge next to it.
