# Stop bots from creating fake checkouts

## Overview

Keep fake orders and junk abandoned checkouts out of your store. Some bots skip your store pages and go straight to a checkout link, creating fake orders and filling your abandoned checkout list. **Stop bots from creating fake checkouts** blocks these checkouts that don't start from your store. You find the card in **Fraud Filters**, below **Stop repeated checkout attempts**, and the Blockify team switches it on for you.

## How to enable Stop bots from creating fake checkouts?

Step 1: From the Blockify dashboard, open **Fraud Filters** and scroll to the **Stop bots from creating fake checkouts** card. It carries an **Early access** badge.

Step 2: Click **Get early access**. The in-app chat opens with a request already written for you. Send it.

Step 3: The Blockify team checks your store and switches the protection on. Once it is on, the card shows the **On** badge and the button changes to **Turn off**.

| Important: This feature may not be fully compatible with Shopify POS, Shop App and Shop Pay. If your store sells through POS or relies on express checkout, tell the team in the chat before it is switched on.

### Turn it off

Click **Turn off** on the card. The protection stops at once and a confirmation message **Updated** appears. To turn it on again, click **Get early access** and send a new request.

## How it works?

* A real shopper browses your store, adds products to the cart and checks out as normal. Nothing changes for them.
* A bot that goes straight to a checkout link, without visiting your store first, cannot turn that checkout into an order.

To see how many attempts were stopped, open **Analytics** and look at the **Blocked Direct Checkouts** card (marked **Beta**) on the **Overview** tab. It counts blocked checkout attempts that didn't start from your store, and it only counts while this protection is on.

| Tip: If you chose **Stop bots from creating fake checkouts and testing stolen cards** in the setup steps you see after installing Blockify, those steps ask whether your store uses express checkout or Shopify POS. If you answered **Yes**, this protection stays off and our team sets it up with you.

## Who can use this feature?

Available on all plans, on request: the Blockify team switches it on for your store.

## FAQs

1. **Why can't I turn this feature on myself?**

It is in early access. The team checks that it works with your store's checkout set-up before switching it on, because it can affect POS, Shop App and Shop Pay orders.

2. **Will real customers be blocked?**

Shoppers who visit your store and check out normally are not affected. If a customer reports a problem at checkout, contact our support team through the in-app chat.

3. **Why does Blocked Direct Checkouts show no data?**

The card only counts while **Stop bots from creating fake checkouts** is on; until then it shows **—**. If the feature card on **Fraud Filters** shows **Off**, request early access first.

4. **How is this different from Stop repeated checkout attempts?**

**Stop repeated checkout attempts** blocks checkouts that reuse the same email, address, phone number or name too many times in an hour. This feature blocks checkouts that don't start from your store at all. You can use both.
