Proxy and VPN blocker

Overview

Blockify helps protect your store by blocking visitors who access your website using VPN or Proxy connections.

VPNs and Proxies are commonly used to hide a visitor’s real identity or location. While they can be legitimate tools, they are also frequently associated with fraudulent activities, fake traffic, or attempts to bypass store restrictions.

With Blockify, you can control which visitors are allowed to access your store based on their connection risk level, helping you maintain a safer and more reliable shopping environment.

How Proxy & VPN Blocker Works

When the Proxy & VPN Blocker feature is enabled:

• Every visitor accessing your store is evaluated based on their connection behavior.
• A risk score is assigned to the visitor’s IP address.
• The system compares this score with your configured risk threshold.
• Visitors whose risk score meets or exceeds the threshold will be blocked or redirected based on your selected mode.

This process happens automatically in real time.

What is a Risk Score?

A risk score represents how risky a visitor’s connection appears, ranging from 0 to 100.

Higher scores indicate a higher likelihood that the connection is anonymous, masked, or potentially suspicious.

Risk Levels

Low Risk (0 – 66)

• Regular shoppers using standard internet connections
• Residential or trusted networks
• Generally safe traffic

Usually recommended to allow access.

Medium Risk (67 – 73)

• Visitors using common VPN services
• Remote workers or privacy-focused users
• Mixed legitimacy

May include both real customers and risky visitors.

High Risk (74 – 100)

• Anonymous proxy traffic
• Server-based or masked connections
• Traffic more commonly linked to fraud or abuse

Recommended to block for most stores.

Recommended Thresholds

Blockify provides suggested configurations to help you quickly choose the right protection level.

These are recommendations only — you can adjust the threshold anytime.

Standard (Recommended) — 75+

Balanced protection for most stores.

• Blocks high-risk visitors
• Allows most legitimate users
• Good starting configuration

Strict — 67+

Stronger fraud protection.

• Blocks most VPN and proxy connections
• Reduces fraud exposure
• May block legitimate remote workers

Best for stores experiencing frequent fraud attempts.

Lenient — 90+

Minimal restriction.

• Blocks only highly suspicious visitors
• Reduces false positives
• Allows most VPN users

Suitable for global or privacy-focused audiences.

Important Note

Setting the threshold too low may block legitimate customers who use VPNs for privacy or remote work.

We recommend starting with Standard (75+) and adjusting based on your store’s traffic and fraud activity.

Instruction

Go to the "Settings" tab, on the "Mitigator" section, and turn on the "Proxy and VPN blocker" setting.
