Auto-block IP from high-risk orders at checkout (for Shopify Plus)

Overview

When an order is flagged as high-risk, Blockify will automatically add that order's IP address to the Block Checkout Access list — preventing the same IP from completing checkout again.

How to use:

Make sure the Fraud Filter app is enabled.

On the Block Checkout screen, in the Quick Setup section, tick the box "Auto-block IP from high-risk orders at checkout".

Once enabled, any order flagged as high-risk will have its IP address automatically added to the Block Checkout Access list with:

  • Source: Auto – #[Order number]
  • Status: Enabled (ON)

Visitors accessing checkout from a blocked IP will be prevented from completing their order.

Once the IP is blocked, visitors using that IP will see an error message on the checkout page:
"Unfortunately, you won't be able to complete checkout."
You can customize this message for each rule by editing the Error message field in the rule's detail page.

Notes:

  • Only orders that have an IP address recorded will be added to the block list. Orders without an IP will be skipped.
  • This feature only applies to high-risk orders placed after the setting is turned on. Existing high-risk orders will not be retroactively added.

Finding the rules this feature created

Every rule added by this feature carries the fixed note Added automatically by Auto-block IP from high-risk orders at checkout and shows an Auto label in the Block list. Filter the Block list by that note to see all of them at once.

You can edit the note or delete these rules like any other, and the Auto label stays regardless. Rules created before this update do not carry the note. See Add a new rule to block for details.
