🤗 Create Buy X Get Y

Run "Buy one get one", "Buy 2 get 1", "Buy a serum get a travel kit", or "3rd item 50% off" offers. The gift shows on the product page, is added to the cart the right way, and the checkout total matches what you promised.

How it works

Buy X Get Y (BXGY) lets a shopper who buys a set number of items ( X ) get another item ( Y ) free, at a percentage off, or at an amount off. Y can be more of the same item or a different product. Free gifts are added to the cart automatically; discounted gifts are added by the shopper from the product page, a gift pop-up, or the cart. The discount at checkout always matches the offer.

How to set it up

Go to Offers → Create offer and choose the Buy X Get Y card.

  1. Rule settings
  • Bundle name (for your reference) and Discount name (shown at checkout).

  • Reward type:
    • More of the same item: the gift is the same product the shopper buys (for example, buy one get one, or 3rd item 50% off).
    • A different product: the gift is a different product you choose.

  • Customer buys (X):
    • Enter "At least [X] item(s)"
    • Choose the scope: specific products, variants, or collections.
    • For a different-product gift, you also choose how to count the quantity (per variant, per product, per collection, or per order).

  • Customer gets (Y):
    • Same item: set the gift quantity.
    • Different product: pick the gift variants and the quantity of each. When there is more than one gift, choose Any selected variants (shopper picks one) or All selected variants.
    • Price: Free, Discounted (%), or Discounted ($), with the discount per item.
    • Scale gift quantity with purchase (repeat) with a cap (maximum gift sets per variant, product, collection, or order).

  • Target customer: Select the customer group(s) this offer applies to:
    • All visitors: everyone who browses your store.
    • Logged-in customers: customers signed in to their account.
    • Logged-in with tag: logged-in customers who have the tags you specify.
    • Customers without tag: visitors or customers who do not have the specified tags.
  • Schedule: Set a start and end time for this offer to activate and run automatically
  • Maximum discount uses: Cap how many times this discount can be used

  • A Summary on the right shows the offer in words and the real % off, updating as you edit.

  1. Display settings
  • Product-page widget
    • Edit the badge, title, and the gift line (the gift price shows struck through, then FREE or the discounted price).
    • Turn the widget off if you want the offer to apply only in the cart and at checkout.

  • Gift pop-up
    • Edit the pop-up title, text, and buttons.
    • Choose whether it opens automatically when the shopper qualifies (used when the shopper picks a gift or adds a discounted gift).

  • Cart
    • Reminder to buy more when the shopper is short ("Add 1 more to unlock …").
    • Gift-added notice ("🎉 Congrats! Free gift added").
    • Add-on suggestions and a change-gift link.

  • Add to cart logic
    • Free gifts are added to the cart automatically once the shopper has enough of X.
    • Discounted gifts (and "choose one" gifts) are added by the shopper from the widget, the gift pop-up, or a suggestion block in the cart.
    • If the shopper drops below the required quantity, the gift is handled by your "When customer no longer qualifies" setting (remove or keep).
    • The checkout total always matches the discount shown in the widget and cart.
