Content protection

Overview

Blockify's Content Protection feature provides a robust suite of tools to shield your website's text and images from unauthorized copying and scraping. This function helps you prevent competitors and bots from selecting content, disables right-click functionality, and blocks common keyboard shortcuts used for copying. By activating these layers of defense, you can protect your valuable assets and maintain the integrity and exclusivity of your website's content.

How to Use

To get started, follow these simple steps:

  1. From the Blockify app dashboard, navigate to the Settings tab.
  2. Locate the Content protection section.
  3. Here, you can turn on the specific settings that suit your needs.

Configuration Options

You can enable one or more of the following protections:

  • Protect content:
    • What it does: Prevents users from selecting (highlighting) text and dragging images on your site. This makes it significantly more difficult to manually copy-paste your content.
    • Use case: Enable this to protect your unique product descriptions, blog posts, and other written content from being easily stolen.

  • Deactivate right click:
    • What it does: Disables the browser's context menu that appears when a user right-clicks. This blocks access to functions like "Copy," "Save image as...," and "Inspect."
    • Use case: This is a highly effective method for preventing casual users from saving your product images or quickly copying text.

  • Deactivate shortcuts:
    • What it does: Prevents users from using common keyboard shortcuts to copy content or view your site's code. This includes shortcuts like Ctrl+C (Copy), Ctrl+U (View Source), and F12 (Open Developer Tools).
    • Use case: Activate this to deter more tech-savvy individuals who use keyboard shortcuts to bypass basic copy protections.

  • Deactivate inspect:
    • What it does: Blocks users from opening the browser's "Inspect Element" or developer tools.
    • Use case: This is an advanced measure to protect your site's underlying code (HTML, CSS) and structure from being easily analyzed or copied by competitors.
