Weekend Delivery Scheduling Rules: Enable Saturday & Sunday Shipping
Learn how to configure your DingDoong delivery schedule to include weekends. This guide walks you through enabling weekend days and setting up time slots so your customers can choose Saturday or Sunday delivery.
Overview
By default, DingDoong's standard shipping schedule only includes weekdays (Monday to Friday). If your store offers weekend deliveries, you'll need to enable Saturday and Sunday in the scheduling rules and configure the appropriate time slots.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
- DingDoong Delivery Date app installed on your Shopify store
- Standard shipping method already enabled (if not, Step 2 below will show you how)

Follow our interactive step-by-step guide below. Click through each step to see annotated screenshots:
Quick summary
If you prefer reading, here are the key steps:
- Open DingDoong Delivery Date from your Shopify admin
- Click Enable to turn on Standard shipping (skip if already on)
- Click Edit settings → go to the Scheduling rule tab
- Under Shipping dates, check Sat and/or Sun
- Scroll to Time slots → click the Sat / Sun tabs → click + Add time to create delivery windows
- Click Save at the top of the page
How it looks on the storefront
After saving, your customers will see weekend dates (Saturday and Sunday) as selectable options in the DingDoong delivery date picker on the cart page or checkout. They can pick their preferred weekend date and choose from the time slots you configured. If their area is outside your delivery zone, they'll still see a "delivery not available" message as usual.
Common scenarios
Enable weekends permanently (every week)
This is the default behavior covered in the setup guide above. Simply check Sat and/or Sun in the Shipping dates section, configure time slots, and save. Every Saturday and Sunday will be available for delivery going forward.
Enable weekends temporarily for a busy season
If you only want to offer weekend delivery during specific periods (e.g., Valentine's week, Christmas season), keep Sat/Sun unchecked in Shipping dates. Instead, use "Additional dates" to add the specific weekend dates you want to offer. This way, weekend delivery automatically stops when the season ends — no need to remember to turn it off.
Enable only Saturday, not Sunday
Simply check Sat only and leave Sun unchecked. You can configure time slots specifically for Saturday under the Sat tab in the Time slots section. Sunday will remain unavailable for customers.

Tips & Best practices
Troubleshooting
Weekend dates are not showing on the storefront?
Make sure you clicked Save after enabling Sat/Sun. Also check that the Shipping method is set to On (not disabled). Clear your browser cache and reload the storefront to see the updated calendar.
Time slots are not appearing for Saturday/Sunday?
You need to configure time slots separately for each day. Click the "Sat" or "Sun" tab in the Time slots section and add at least one time slot. If you want to reuse your weekday slots, use the "Copy setup from" dropdown.
Customers are booking weekend dates but I can't fulfill them?
Set up order limits using "Add order limit per day" and preparation time to ensure you have enough notice for weekend orders. You can also use "Add exception date" to block specific weekends when you can't deliver.
FAQ
Can I charge more for weekend deliveries?
Yes! Use the "Add surcharge per day" option in the Scheduling rule tab. Click "Collect more fee for selected day" to set an additional fee for Saturday and/or Sunday. The surcharge is added on top of your base delivery rate.
Can I have different time slots for Saturday vs Sunday?
Yes. In the Time slots section, each day has its own tab (Mon, Tue, ... Sat, Sun). You can configure completely different delivery windows for each day.
What's the difference between "Specific days" and "Additional dates"?
"Specific days of the week" enables recurring weekly delivery (e.g., every Saturday). "Additional dates" lets you add one-off dates for occasional delivery. You can combine both — for example, deliver every weekday plus specific Saturdays during busy periods.
How do I disable weekend delivery if I change my mind?
Simply go back to Scheduling rule, uncheck Sat and/or Sun in the Shipping dates section, and click Save. Weekend dates will immediately stop appearing in the delivery date picker. Any existing orders already placed for weekend dates will not be affected.
Can I temporarily disable weekend delivery for holidays?
Yes! Use "Add exception date" to exclude specific weekend dates. This is perfect for holidays like Christmas or New Year's when you won't be delivering, without having to turn off weekend delivery entirely.
