⚡ Google shopping category mapping

Map your product data to the correct Google product categories for improved visibility and accuracy in Merchant Center.


What is Google Category Mapping?


Google Category Mapping lets you assign specific Google product categories to your products based on:

  • 🏷️ Product tags
  • 🗂️ Product types
  • 🏢 Product vendors
    This ensures that your products are submitted with the correct category format recognized by Google Shopping.


How to Add a Google Category Mapping


  1. Choose GMC Sync in Menu
    Google Category


    • Click “Product Setting” from sidebar menu
    • Click “Add category” from the Google Category section.
  1. Choose Mapping Type
  • Select one of the following options:
    Category mappingProduct tag – Map based on product tags in your store.🔘 Product type – Use Shopify's product type for mapping.🔘 Product vendor – Assign categories based on your vendors.
  1. Choose Product Tag / Type / Vendor
    Use the dropdown to select the specific tag, type, or vendor you'd like to map.
  2. Choose Google Category
    In the second field, search for and select a relevant Google category (e.g., Apparel & Accessories > Shoes > Women's Shoes).
  3. Save the Mapping
    Click Save 💾 to apply your mapping. Mapped rules will be used automatically during sync.
