✨ Microsoft UET & Clarity Consent Mode Integrated

The Microsoft Universal Event Tracking (UET) & Clarity Consent Mode Integration feature in Consentik provides a seamless way for merchants to integrate Microsoft’s UET and Clarity Consent Mode V2 on their e-commerce websites.

This feature ensures user privacy compliance while still allowing essential analytics and advertising tracking to function properly.

Feature Overview

This feature allows merchants to:

  • Enable Microsoft UET and Microsoft Clarity Consent Mode V2 directly from the app.
  • Automatically embed tracking scripts via app embed, with no need to manually edit theme files.
  • Ensure that all Microsoft tracking respects users’ cookie consent preferences.

Accessing the Integration

Navigate to:

Consentik Admin → Integrations → Universal Event Tracking (UET)

You will see the configuration panel as shown below:

How to Set Up

Step 1: Activate the Integration

Toggle Active Universal Event Tracking to enable the feature.

Step 2: Add Tracking IDs

If you haven’t added your Microsoft tags yet:

  1. Check “Have NOT added UET tag on store yet?” and enter your UET Tag ID.
  2. Check “Have NOT added CLARITY tag on store yet?” and enter your Clarity ID.
💡 If your UET or Clarity tags are already manually installed, you can leave the checkboxes unchecked.

Consentik will automatically add both tags to your store through the app embed — no manual code insertion into theme.liquid is needed.

Upon integration of the generated code into the theme.liquid file, the app will default value of ad_storage to a 'denied' state. This ensures that no data is collected without the explicit consent of the user.

When a user visits the merchant's website, they will be prompted to provide consent for various categories of cookies, including:

  • Marketing Cookies: Related to advertising and marketing efforts.

  • Analytics Cookies: Used for collecting data on user interaction and behavior.

  • Functionality Cookies: Essential for certain website features and personalization.

If the user provides their consent:

  1. Consent Update: The app will update ad_storage to 'granted' for the cookie categories the user has accepted.

  1. Consent Storage: The user's preferences are stored in a cookie on their device, ensuring that their choices are remembered for future visits.

  1. Automatic Consent Application: On subsequent visits, the app will automatically read the stored cookie and apply the user's preferences without requiring them to consent again.

With this feature, merchants can manage user consent for cookies in a way that is compliant with privacy laws, user-friendly, and minimizes the impact on data collection for critical website functions.
