Post-purchase upsell

Post-purchase upsell helps you increase your average order value by showing additional offers to customers right after they complete a purchase.



I. Create a post-purchase funnel


  1. Add a new funnel
  • Go to Post purchase in the app menu
  • Click Add funnel



  1. Set display conditions

In the Display when section, define when the upsell offer should appear. You can choose how the conditions work:


  • All conditions – The upsell will show only if all rules are met.
  • Any condition – The upsell will show if at least one rule is met.


You can choose from the following conditions:


  • All orders – Show the upsell for every order.
  • Order value – Show the upsell when the order reaches a specific amount.
  • Total quantity – Show the upsell when the total number of items in the order meets your requirement.
  • Customer tag – Show the upsell only for customers with specific tags.
  • Product tag – Show the upsell if the order contains products with specific tags.



  • Click Add condition to add more rules
  • Click the delete icon to remove any condition


  1. Configure the First Offer

In the Display first offer section, choose which products you want to offer as the upsell and set the discount value. Choose one of the following options:


  • Any product in the store - The upsell can include any product from your store.
  • Any product in selected collections - The upsell will only include products from the collections you choose.
  • Any product in selected products - The upsell will only include the specific products you select.
  • Any product in selected product variants - The upsell will only include the specific variants you select




In the Discount value section, define the discount for the upsell product

  • Enter the discount value
  • Choose the discount type: % for percentage discount, or a fixed amount


  1. If accepted first offer (Second Offer)

The second offer will only be displayed after the first offer is successfully applied to the order. Check Show 2nd offer to activate this option.


  • The product selection settings are the same as the First Offer.
  • In the Discount value section, define the discount for upsell product the same as the First Offer



  1. If declined first offer (Alternative Offer)

This section allows you to show a different upsell offer if the customer declines the first offer. Check Show other offer to activate this option.


  • The product selection settings are the same as the First Offer.
  • In the Discount value section, define the discount for upsell product the same as the First Offer



  • Click Save to save all your funnel settings. Check that the funnel status is set to Active. If the funnel is not active, the upsell offers will not be displayed to customers.


II. Requirements for Post-purchase to work

To make sure the post-purchase upsell works correctly, please check the following settings in your Shopline store.


  1. Enable the app in Post-purchase settings
  • Go to Shopline Admin -> Settings -> Checkout Settings


  • Scroll to the Post-purchase page section, make sure Pareto – Quantity Breaks App is chosen there.




  1. Not supported with Cash on Delivery (COD)

Post-purchase upsell does not work when customers choose Cash on Delivery (COD) as their payment method.
