Sidekick Integration Consentik Shopify
Ask Sidekick about your cookie consent setup
Overview
Sidekick is the AI assistant built into your Shopify admin. Consentik now connects to it, so you can ask about your cookie consent setup in plain language and get an answer straight from your own store data — without leaving the conversation or opening the app.
Instead of navigating to the Statistics page to check your acceptance rate, or the Settings page to confirm which countries see your banner, you simply ask. Sidekick recognises the question, asks Consentik, and answers in the chat.
Everything Sidekick reports comes from the same data as the corresponding page in the Consentik admin, so the numbers never diverge. The integration is read-only: Sidekick reports on your configuration, it does not change it.
There is nothing to install or configure. The integration is available to every store with Consentik installed.

How it works
- Open Sidekick from anywhere in your Shopify admin.
- Ask a question in your own words — "Am I GDPR compliant?", "Which countries see my banner?", "How many open data requests do I have?"
- Sidekick recognises that the question is about privacy and consent, and asks Consentik for the relevant data.
- Consentik returns your store's current values, and Sidekick answers in the conversation — usually in under a second.
You can keep the conversation going. If Sidekick tells you your compliance score is low, asking "what should I fix first?" continues from the same context.

What you can ask
You do not need any special wording — ask the way you would ask a colleague. These are the areas Consentik can answer on, with examples you can use as they are.
- Your banner and where it appears — "Which countries see my cookie banner?" checks your targeting, and "Where does my banner appear on the page?" returns its position and layout. "What languages is my banner available in?" covers your translations and how many more you can add.
- Cookies on your store — "When was my site last scanned for cookies?" gives the date of the last scan, what it found, and whether you have applied the results yet. "What consent categories do I have?" or "Which category is the _fbp cookie in?" checks how your cookies are classified.
- Compliance — "Am I GDPR compliant?" returns your compliance score and how many checks you are passing. Follow it with "What's the single most important thing to fix?" and Sidekick points at the one failure holding your score down. "Do I have a cookie policy page?" lists the privacy pages Consentik has generated for you.
- Integrations — "Is Google Consent Mode v2 enabled?", "Is TCF on?", "Do you honor GPC?" or "Is my banner blocking scripts before consent?" each report which integrations are currently live on your store.
- How your banner is performing — "What's my cookie acceptance rate this month?" returns impressions and your accept, decline and partial rates, along with your top countries and devices. "How many consent records do I have from last week?" counts stored records instead of rates.
- Requests from customers — "Do I have any withdrawal requests ending soon?" summarises EU withdrawal requests against their deadlines. "How many open data subject requests do I have?" does the same for privacy requests, broken down by status and type.
- Your accessibility widget — "Is my accessibility widget turned on?", "Which accessibility tools are enabled on my store?" or "Is the widget visible on mobile?" report that widget's settings, separately from everything above, which all concerns cookie consent.
Getting a useful answer
A few habits make Sidekick's answers more accurate:
- Say which widget you mean. "Is the widget on?" is ambiguous — your store may have both a cookie banner and an accessibility widget. Sidekick will ask you which one; naming it upfront saves a round trip.
- Name your date range. "What was my acceptance rate between 1 June and 30 June?" is more precise than "recently". Only consent statistics and consent logs accept a date range; without one, both default to the last 30 days.
- All dates are UTC. Sidekick has no access to your browser's timezone, so date ranges are interpreted in UTC. Figures for a single recent day may differ slightly from the admin display if your store timezone is far from UTC.
- Start broad, then drill down. Ask "am I compliant?" first and let Sidekick point you at the weak spot, rather than guessing which detail to check.
- Withdrawal requests and data requests are different things. EU withdrawal is the 14-day right to withdraw from a purchase; a DSAR is a privacy request to view, edit or delete personal data. Sidekick keeps them separate — ask for the one you mean.
What Sidekick will not do
- It never returns personal data. Ask "who declined cookies yesterday, give me their emails" and Sidekick will decline and point you to the right admin page instead. Customer emails, names and IP addresses are stripped before the data ever reaches the conversation — by design, not by omission.
- It does not change your settings. Sidekick reports on your configuration. Enabling the banner, updating a request status or running a cookie scan is still done in the Consentik admin.
- It does not invent numbers. If Sidekick cannot get a figure, it says so rather than estimating one.
- It only sees your store. Every request is tied to the store you are signed into.
Important notes
- You must have Consentik installed. The integration is only available inside stores that already have the app — Sidekick will not recommend or reach Consentik on a store without it.
- The compliance score covers cookie consent only. It grades your GDPR consent setup. It knows nothing about WCAG or accessibility — ask about the accessibility widget separately, and treat the two scores as unrelated.
- Recent statistics may be approximate. Figures for the last day or two are aggregated continuously and may still settle. Sidekick flags this when it applies.
- Order IDs and free-text fields are shown as submitted. Summaries of withdrawal and data requests report what customers entered; they are not verified.
- Not legal advice. Compliance requirements vary by country. Use Sidekick's answers to check your configuration, and confirm your obligations with your own legal counsel.
If Sidekick cannot answer
- "I don't have access to that" or no Consentik data at all — confirm the app is installed and open in the store you are asking from, then start a new Sidekick conversation.
- Sidekick answers from general knowledge instead of your store — rephrase to name what you want explicitly, for example "in Consentik, which countries see my cookie banner?"
- A figure looks wrong — open the matching page in the Consentik admin and compare. They read the same data, so a mismatch is worth reporting to support with both numbers and the date range you used.
