Sync Products to Google Merchant Center (GMC)


Omega Feed supports two dynamic sync methods to distribute your Shopify products to Google Merchant Center (GMC):

  • API Sync (Recommended): Connects directly via Google Content API for automated catalog synchronization and real-time status updates.
  • XML Feed: Generates a standardized feed URL for manual submission to GMC or other supported platforms.

🛠️ Step-by-Step Feed Setup

Step 1: Initialize Creation

  • On the Google Shopping home screen, click + Create first feed.



  • Or Create new feed if you already have existing feeds.



Step 2: Choose Sync Method

Select either Connect automatically (via API) or Use a data file (XML), then click Continue.



Step 3: Configure Feed Settings


  1. Google Account & GMC Connection
    • Log in using the Google account linked to your Merchant Center.
    • Select your target Merchant Center Account (Merchant ID) and choose your Data source.
    • Give your configuration a recognizable Setting name (max 50 characters).



  1. Target Market Settings
    • Use store default settings: Automatically applies your primary Shopify store's domain, country, currency, and language.


  • Target a specific market: Manually select your target Market, Country, Currency, and Language (Requires a Scale plan or above; supports product translation integrations).



  1. Product & Variant Selection

Product source: Choose to sync your

  • All products
  • Filter by Products from collections
  • Group by Products in specific tags, or Pick individual products one by one (Requires a Scale plan or above)



Variant selection: Decide whether to export All variants of a product or the First variant only.



Google category: Use the search feature to assign a standardized Google Product Category to ensure accurate marketplace indexing.


  1. Schedule Auto-Sync

Configure how frequently the app should automatically update your feed:
Set your preferred interval frequency:

  • Weekly


  • Daily (Requires a Scale plan or above)


  • Hourly (Requires a Scale plan or above)



Step 4: Preview & Finalize Feed

This last step shows a full summary of your settings and a quick preview of your products before you sync them.


  1. Review Setup Summary

Each section includes an Edit link that lets you return directly to the corresponding configuration step to apply updates:

  • Products: Displays the selected product sources (e.g., All products).
  • Schedule: Shows the configured synchronization interval and execution time (e.g., Weekly - 16:45).
  • Market: Displays the targeted localized market and currency pairing (e.g., US - USD).
  • Mapping fields: Indicates the exact number of attributes currently mapped to Google attributes (e.g., 27 mapped).
  • Language: Specifies the configured feed language dialect (e.g., en).
  • Custom rules: Lists active rule logic applied to modify standard catalog behavior (e.g., No rules).



  1. Live Product Preview

Below the summary, product cards show your items as they will appear on Google Shopping, including the image, name, price, and stock status.
Product Details Review: Click on any product card to open the "Fields sent to your feed" window.



This shows the exact product details that will be sent to Google Merchant Center, divided into two main groups:

  • Essential Fields: Shows basic information like ID, Title, Description, Availability (e.g., in_stock), Condition, Brand, Age group, and Gender.
  • Media: Shows the main Image link and other product images hosted on Shopify.



  1. Save and Sync Buttons

After checking your preview, choose one of the options at the bottom-right corner:

  • Done setup: Saves your current settings without syncing right away. Your products will sync automatically based on your schedule.
  • Sync: Saves your settings and starts syncing your products to Google Merchant Center immediately.



📊 Monitoring & Managing Feeds

After successfully finalizing your setup, the feed instance will appear on the Google Shopping feed list page. You can monitor and control active sync operations using the following structured management table:

Column

Description

Auto sync

An ON/OFF switch. Turning it off stops automatic updates but keeps your settings.

Feed name

Shows the name of your feed and a direct link to check your products on GMC.

Sync status

Shows the current sync state: Syncing (sending products from Shopify to GMC) or Synced (successfully sent).

Approval status

Shows if Google accepts your products: Approved or Disapproved. (Click this badge to see details if there are any issues).

Last sync

Shows when the feed was last updated (e.g., "a few seconds ago") and the time for the next automatic sync.

Action

Sync now: Updates your products on GMC immediately without waiting for the scheduled time.

Edit: Opens the settings again so you can change your product choices, rules, or schedule.

Duplicate: Makes an exact copy of this feed setting to help you create a new one faster.

Delete: Permanently removes this feed setting from the app. (Note: This does not delete the products that were already sent to GMC).
