🛒Add a new Checkout Validation rule
Overview
Checkout validation rules are essential for ensuring a secure and efficient online shopping experience. These rules help you validate critical checkout fields, manage transaction timings, and customize payment and shipping methods based on specific conditions.
Currently, the app supports validation using the following criteria:
- Cart Conditions
- Customer Information
- Date and Time
- Shipping Address
- Product Information
- Market
Instruction to set up rule
Step 1: Create a new rule
- From your Shopify admin dashboard, navigate to Blockify checkout

- On the Rule list, click on Create rule button then select Checkout validation rule

Step 2: Select the rule condition
Choose an option as a validation condition of the rule.
With Checkout validation rule, we available these conditions:
- Cart: Cart subtotal, Cart total, Cart quantity, Cart has discount, Cart weight, Cart has subscription item
- Customer: Email address, Phone number, Customer name, Customer tag, Customer currency, Total spent, Customer is logged in, Collection
- Product Information: Product, Product quantity, Product tag, Product is gift card, Product quantity of collection, Product SKU, Product vendor
- Address: Shipping address line 1, Shipping address line 2, Delivery phone number, Delivery company, PO Box Address, Missing House, Zip code, Country, Market, Province code
- Date of the time: Day of the week, Time of the day, Day of the week and time of the day.
- Market: Shopify Market

Step 3: Customize your action when the condition is match:
When a rule is triggered, Blockify Checkout displays a message on the checkout page to inform the customer about the validation result. There are two message behaviors you can choose from, depending on how strictly you want the rule to be enforced.
1. Block checkout and show error message
When this option is enabled, Blockify prevents the customer from completing the checkout if the rule conditions are met.
- The checkout flow is blocked until the issue is resolved.
- An error message will be shown at the selected position on the checkout page.
- Merchants can customize the message (up to 255 characters) to explain the reason and guide the customer on what to do next.
Use cases:
- Fraud detection
- Minimum order requirements
- Restricted locations / shipping limitations
- Product-level purchase restrictions
Example messages:
- “Order cannot be placed due to suspected fraud.”
- “Your order does not meet the minimum requirements for delivery.”
2. Show warning message without blocking checkout
This option displays a non-blocking notification when the rule is triggered.
- The message appears at the selected position on the checkout page.
- The customer can still complete the checkout normally.
- Ideal for providing helpful warnings or recommendations instead of enforcing restrictions.
Use cases:
- Stock warnings
- Shipping delays or exceptions
- Informational prompts
- Non-critical validation
Example messages:
- “We currently ship this item later than usual due to high demand.”
- “This product may have additional delivery fees in your region.”

Customize your own error message and select the position in which the message is displayed.
