Adding Testimonials on Checkout (For Shopify Plus)

Overview

Testimonials on Checkout allows you to display existing product or store reviews from supported review platforms directly on the Shopify Checkout page.

This feature helps increase buyer trust at the final step of purchase, reducing hesitation and improving checkout conversion.

Currently supported platforms: (Feel free to let us know your request on any platform)

Blockify does not create, collect, or manage reviews.
We only display reviews that already exist on your connected review platform.

What this feature does

  • Fetches existing reviews from your connected review app
  • Matches reviews to the correct product or store
  • Displays relevant reviews on the Checkout page using Shopify Checkout Extensions
  • Works without modifying your checkout logic or payment flow

How reviews are matched

Blockify uses the following priority logic:

  • Product-level reviews: Reviews linked to the products currently in the checkout
  • Store-level reviews: Used when a product has insufficient or no reviews

This ensures that shoppers see relevant and trustworthy social proof at checkout.

How to add Testimonials on your Checkout

Step 1: Connect your review platform
  • Go to Testimonials → Integrations
  • Select your review platform
  • Enter the required API key or access token. Not sure where to find your API key or access token? Follow our step-by-step guide to generate API credentials from your review platform
  • Click Connect



Step 2: Create the Testimonials in Checkout Component
  • Navigate to "Checkout Component"
  • Click "Create Component"
  • Navigate to "Testimonials" on "Select component" page and press "Create"



Step 3: Configure the Testimonials Component:

Set a name for internal reference.

Choose when the banner should be displayed:

  • Always: The banner is shown without conditions.
  • Specific Condition: Display the banner only when certain conditions are met (e.g., cart value, shipping method, customer tags).



Step 4: Configure the Testimonials Component:

Review App

Select the review platform you want to display reviews from at checkout.

Blockify will fetch existing reviews from the selected app and display them securely using Shopify Checkout Extensions

Review Type

Choose the type of reviews you want shoppers to see during checkout.

  • Product reviews related to the customer’s order

Display reviews that match the specific products currently in the customer’s cart.

Best for reinforcing confidence in individual products.

  • Store reviews

Display overall reviews about your brand and shopping experience.

Best for building general trust when product-level reviews are limited.

Save Condition

Then select Go to Checkout Editor to customize the banner’s appearance


Step 5: Customize the UI in Checkout Editor

Add the Testimonial block

Customize the **Testimonials **as needed.




*Note: The Block ID connects your Testimonials block to its matching logic in the Checkout Editor.

  • Locate the Block ID in your Checkout component list within the Blockify Checkout app.
  • Enter the exact same Block ID here to ensure the Testimonials works correctly.
  • If the Block ID is missing or incorrect, the Testimonials will not display or capture data as expected.

Your Testimonials is now set up and ready to enhance your checkout experience! 🚀
