FAQs - Blocked Traffic and Shopify Reports

We've compiled the most common questions about traffic analysis to help you understand how the app works and how to read your data accurately.

Q1: Why do I still see "sessions" from a country I blocked in my Shopify Analytics?

This is the most common question we receive, and the answer lies in the order of operations within Shopify's system. Think of it this way: Shopify Analytics is the gatekeeper of a building, and Blockify is the security guard inside the lobby.

  1. A Buyer Visits: Someone from a blocked country accesses your store's URL
  2. Shopify Logs the Visit: The moment they "knock on the door," the gatekeeper (Shopify Analytics) immediately counts them as "1 session" and makes a note in its logbook (your reports)
  3. Blockify Takes Action: Immediately after, the person enters the lobby and is met by the security guard (Blockify). Our security guard checks their credentials, sees they are not allowed, and stops them, preventing them from entering any of the rooms (viewing products, checking out, etc.)

So, Shopify Analytics was correct in logging that someone arrived, and Blockify was correct in performing its duty to stop them.

Q2: So, is the Blockify app actually working effectively?

Yes, 100% effectively. Blockify's core mission is to protect your store from fraudulent activity and unwanted traffic.

When a visitor is blocked, they are completely UNABLE to:

✅ View your product content or any other protected pages

✅ Add any products to their cart

✅ Access the checkout page

✅ Place fraudulent or fake orders.

The session you see in Shopify Analytics is just a harmless "ghost" that cannot cause any harm. Your store remains completely secure.

Q3: How can I see proof that Blockify is working?

This is the best way to see the app's true value: Instead of looking at Shopify Analytics for this information, go directly to your Blockify app Analytics

In our "Activity Log" or "Visitors" section, you will find:

  • A detailed list of all traffic that has been successfully blocked
  • Information on the time, country, and IP address of the blocked visitor
  • Total blocks by day, week, or month

This is the most reliable proof that Blockify is working hard 24/7 to protect you.

Q4: I want a "clean" report without this blocked traffic. What should I do?

We understand you want to analyze the behavior of your real potential customers. There are two excellent ways to do this:

  1. Method 1 (The Simplest Way): Use the Blockify Analytics to see who was blocked, and treat Shopify Analytics as a tool for seeing your raw, overall traffic.
  2. Method 2 (Advanced & Accurate): Use Google Analytics (GA). It is the industry standard for web analysis. You can easily set up a filter in Google Analytics (GA) to completely exclude traffic from the countries you have blocked. This will give you a 100% "clean" set of reports for your analysis.

We hope this guide has cleared up your questions. Rest assured that we are continuing to find better solutions for you. While the current behavior is standard across the Shopify ecosystem, we are always exploring new technologies to provide an even more seamless reporting experience in the future.
