How to Add a Cookie Banner to Your Squarespace Website Using Consentik
Overview
Adding a cookie consent banner to your Squarespace site helps you comply with privacy regulations (like GDPR) — and shows transparency to your visitors about cookie usage. This guide walks through creating a Consentik banner, adding it to your site, and verifying installation.
Step 1 — Create and Configure Your Consentik Cookie Banner
- Go to Consentik’s registration page and create an account.
- Once registered, add your website’s domain and follow the onboarding steps.
- During onboarding, configure the banner settings:
- Choose the banner type (e.g. Lite, Basic, or Advanced).
- Select the regulation coverage (e.g. enable for all countries or limit to certain regions).
- At the end of onboarding, Consentik will generate a unique installation code for your banner. Copy this code (e.g. using a provided “Copy” button).
Step 2 — Add the Consentik Code to Your Squarespace Site
- Log in to your Squarespace Dashboard.
- In the left-hand menu, navigate to the Website (or Settings) section.
- Go to Marketing Tools → Custom Code → Code Injection.

- Paste the installation code from Consentik into the Header input box.
- Save your changes.
Step 3 — Verify the Banner Installation
- Return to Consentik’s setup screen.
- Click the Verify button.
- Consentik will check if the banner is properly installed and active on your website.
If verification succeeds, the consent banner should now be live on your site.
Notes & Best Practices
- Even though customization options are possible, make sure your banner stays clear and easy to read.
- If your site receives visitors from regions with strict privacy laws, ensure consent options (Accept, Decline, Manage) are clearly presented.
- After installation, test the banner — ideally in an incognito/private browser window — to confirm it displays correctly for new visitors.
