Refund to Gift card

Overview


Refund to Gift card allows merchants to offer refunds as a gift card (created on Shopify admin), helping retain revenue while providing customers with a gift card for future purchases.


How to enable Refund to Gift Card Resolution?

Step 1: Go to Settings > Resolution


  1. Enable “Refund to Gift Card” toggle
  2. Add description text (optional)


Step 2: Set up settings for Discount code (Optional)


  1. Set Bonus credit for Gift card to give an incentive for shoppers to choose gift card rather than refund to original payment method
  2. Set Expiration Date to encourage shoppers use the gift card as soon as possible (optional)
  3. Enable noitification of gift card to send the information of gift card to shoppers (optional)


Step 3: Save changes > Preview on Return Page



Additional Requirement


In order to allow your customer to use refunded gift card for future purchasing, you must update Shopify store permissions. Shopify stores without permission to read and write gift cards generated in Synctrack Returns & Exchanges will get an error issuing a gift card on the Returns detail page while issuing a gift card.



If you haven’t update permissions yet, Synctrack will notify to update scrope when issuing gift card for return request


How It Works?

In Returns Portal

  • Shows total refund value including bonus
  • Customers see gift card as refund option
  • Displays potential bonus amount



In Synctrack Admin

  • View Refund to Gift Card as resolution of return request.
  • After approving request and issuing gift card sucessfully, Synctrack will automatically create a Gift card and show the information for your shoppers.



In Shopify Admin


After refunded sucessfully, the gift card will be added directly to Gift card in Shopify Admin. Shopify will automatically generate a gift card code reflecting the total value of the return under its “Gift cards” section.


  1. Go to Products > Gift cards in the Shopify admin.
  2. Find and open the gift card code from the list ending with the digits as same as the one generated in Synctrack Returns
  3. Under Gift Card Details, you will see
  • A timeline with all the changelogs from when a gift card is issued until an email with the gift card is sent via Shopify.
  • A note on the right-hand side explaining the issuer of the gift card (Synctrack Returns).




Customer Experience


After refunded sucessfully, your customer will automatically receive the gift card information through Synctrack notification. Learn more how notifications work
