Setup Cart Editor (For Shopify Plus only)

Overview

Cart Editor is a smart feature in Blockify Checkout that helps reduce cart abandonment by allowing customers to resolve common issues right inside the cart—before they proceed to checkout. Merchants can display a customizable section with tailored messages and quick actions, triggered by specific rules such as cart value, product types, or shipping methods.

What it does for your store

  • 🛒 Fix mistakes upfront – Customers can adjust quantities, change variants, or remove items directly in the cart.
  • Prevent checkout blockers – Enforce rules like limiting discounted items or blocking restricted products from PO Box shipping.
  • 🎯 Guide better decisions – Prompt shoppers to double-check details such as size, color, or product type.
  • 📈 Increase conversions – By solving issues earlier in the journey, Cart Editor reduces friction and boosts checkout completion.

Set Up Cart Editor

Step 1: Create the Cart Editor Rule in Checkout Component

  1. Navigate to "Checkout Component"
  2. Click "Create Component"
  3. Navigate to "Cart Editor" on "Select component" page and press "Create"

Step 2: Configure the Cart Editor

  1. Set a name for internal reference.
  2. Choose when the banner should be displayed:
  • Always: The banner is shown without conditions.
  • Specific Condition: Display the banner only when certain conditions are met (e.g., cart value, shipping method, customer tags).

  1. Click Save Condition
  2. Then select Go to Checkout Editor to customize the banner’s appearance

Step 3: Customize the UI in Checkout Editor

  1. Add the Cart Editor block
  2. Style and customize the Cart Editor as needed.

Note: The Block ID links your Cart Editor block in the cart page to its corresponding logic in the Checkout Editor.

  • You can find the Block ID in your Checkout component list inside the Blockify Checkout app.
  • Make sure the Block ID entered here matches exactly with the ID in the Checkout Editor.
  • If the Block ID is incorrect or left blank, the Cart Editor may not display as intended.

Your Cart Editor is now set up and ready to enhance your checkout experience! 🚀
