Configure Auto-block visitors
Overview
Keep a blocked visitor out even when they change their IP address and try again. Auto-block visitors keeps blocking that person as long as they use the same browser, so they can't get around your IP and country rules just by switching connection. You turn it on in Settings > Risk Mitigator.
What you'll learn
How to enable Auto-block visitors?
Step 1: Go to Settings > Risk Mitigator.

Step 2: Find the Auto-block visitors card. It reads "Turn on to auto-block visitors even when they change their IP addresses but still use the same browser." Turn the switch on.

Step 3: Click Save. To stop, turn the switch off and save again.
How it works?
- A visitor is first blocked by one of your rules or protection settings (an IP, country or VPN block, for example).
- If that visitor comes back from a different IP address in the same browser, Blockify recognises their browser and blocks them again. You don't need to add a new rule.
- The protection only applies to visitors who were already blocked. It never blocks a visitor who has not matched a rule.
- Repeat blocks show in the Analytics blocked visitors log. Filter by Block reason and date range to review them.
Who can use this feature?
Available on the Premium plan and above.
FAQs
- Does this feature block anyone on its own?
No. It only blocks again the visitors your existing rules or protection settings have already blocked.
- I removed a block rule. Will the visitor stay blocked?
If none of your rules match the visitor any more, they are not blocked. To unblock a specific person straight away, add their IP or email to the Whitelist in Block & Re-director.
- Can I see which visitors were re-blocked after an IP change?
Open the blocked visitors log in Analytics and filter Block reason for the period you need.
- Does it work on the checkout page?
This feature works while visitors browse your store, not on the checkout page. To protect your checkout, see A complete guide: Block Checkout.
