Configure Spy extensions blocker

Overview

Stop competitors from spying on your best sellers. Spy extensions blocker blocks visitors who have a competitor-research browser add-on (extension) such as PPSPY or Minea. These tools show your best sellers, sales volume, suppliers and installed apps to anyone who visits your store. You turn it on in Settings > Bot Mitigator.

How to enable Spy extensions blocker?

Step 1: Go to Settings > Bot Mitigator.

Step 2: Scroll to the Spy extensions blocker card and turn the switch to On. The card reads "Turn on to automatically block visitors who use spy extensions to track your store's products, sales and apps."

Step 3: Click Save. To turn the protection off, switch it off and save again.

How it works?

While the switch is on, a visitor using one of the supported extensions sees your blocking page (set under Settings > Blocking template) instead of the store.
Only visitors with a supported extension installed are blocked. Shoppers without one can shop as usual.
The card shows a Beta tag: we add new spy tools to the list regularly as they appear.

Requesting a new extension

If you find a spy tool that is not on the list, click Request to block a new extension here. under the card and tell us its name. Our team reviews each request and adds new extensions for all stores.

Available on the Free plan and above.

FAQs

Does this hide my store from competitors completely?

No. It blocks visitors who use one of the supported extensions. A competitor browsing without an extension can still see your public pages. Combine it with Settings > Content protection to deactivate right-click, inspect and copy shortcuts.

Will the blocker slow down my store?

No. Shoppers without a spy extension see no difference.

Can I see who was blocked by this feature?

Open Analytics, go to the blocked visitors log and filter Block reason by spy extension for your date range.

The tool I use for my own research is blocked on my store. What can I do?

Whitelist your own IP address in Block & Re-director > Whitelist. This blocker always lets whitelisted visitors through.
