Omega Google Ads: Guide to ask Sidekick about your Business Insights

What is Sidekick?

  • Sidekick is Shopify's built-in AI assistant, right inside your Shopify admin. It understands your store and helps you get answers and complete tasks in everyday language, with no technical skill needed.
  • With Trakpilot installed, Sidekick can also answer questions about your Business Insights, using your real store data. So instead of opening each analytics screen, you can just ask, for example "What was my revenue in the last 30 days?", and Sidekick replies.
  • Sidekick is available in the Shopify admin on desktop and mobile. It is not available on the mobile web admin or the Shopify app on tablets, including iPads. Availability can also depend on your Shopify plan and region.

How to open Sidekick

  1. Open your Shopify admin.
  2. Click the Sidekick icon (the purple glasses). You can open it from any page in the admin.
  3. Type your question, or use voice.

Asking about your Business Insights

  • Ask Sidekick about your store's Business Insights in plain language, and it answers using your Omega Google Ads data.
  • Ask in your own language. Sidekick understands many languages, so use whichever language you normally use with Sidekick. The examples below are written in English, but you do not have to ask in English.
  • The numbers come from the same source as your Business Insights dashboards (Order, Buyer, and Product analytics, plus Google Ads cost), so for the same date range they match what you see on screen.

What you can ask

Each topic below lists the metrics it covers and example questions you can adapt.

1. Overview (everything in one snapshot)

Covers: revenue, orders, average order value (AOV), buyers, repeat buyers, repeat buyer rate, refund orders, refund rate, ad spend, and CPA, with comparison to the previous period.

  • Give me a business insights overview for the last 7 days
  • How are revenue, orders, and buyers doing this week?
  • Show this month's business performance
  • How much did I sell today and how much did ads cost?
  • What changed compared to the previous period?
2. Sales

Covers: revenue, orders, AOV, refund orders, and refund rate, as a single number, a day-by-day trend, or a daily table.

  • What is my revenue in the last 30 days?
  • How many orders today?
  • What's AOV this week?
  • What's the refund rate this month?
  • Revenue by day for the last 30 days
  • Show a daily sales table with orders, revenue, CPA, and AOV
  • Which day had the highest revenue?
3. Buyers

Covers: buyers, new buyers, repeat buyers, repeat buyer rate, retention rate, churn rate, customer lifetime value (CLV), and CPA, as a number or a trend over time.

  • How many buyers in the last 30 days?
  • How many new customers this week?
  • What's my repeat buyer rate?
  • What's buyer retention rate?
  • Is churn increasing?
  • What is buyer lifetime value?
  • CLV trend for the last 30 days
4. Products

Covers: views, add to cart, begin checkout, purchases, quantity purchased, and the four conversion rates (view-to-cart, cart-to-checkout, checkout-to-purchase, view-to-purchase). You can sort, get top or bottom lists, search by product name, and page through results.

  • Which products got the most views?
  • Top 10 products by add to cart
  • Which products sold the most in the last 30 days?
  • Which products have high views but low purchases?
  • View-to-cart rate by product
  • Search products by name (for example, products with "t-shirt" in the name)

Product results are clickable, so you can go straight to the product from the answer. Products you have removed keep their history, so past reports stay complete.

5. Ad spend

Covers: Google Ads spend and CPA (the cost to acquire one customer).

  • How much did I spend on Google Ads this week?
  • Is ad spend increasing this month?
  • Which day had the highest ad spend?
  • Ad spend by day
  • How much ad money per customer acquired?
6. Funnel

Covers: your store funnel (views → add to cart → begin checkout → purchase), the drop-off at each step, the biggest leak, and cart abandonment, with comparison to the previous period.

  • Where is my funnel leaking the most?
  • Where do customers drop off?
  • What's my view-to-purchase conversion rate?
  • How many people add to cart but never checkout?
  • How does this week's funnel compare to last week?
  • What's my cart abandonment rate?

Tips for better answer

  • Say the time period. For example "last 7 days", "this week", "this month", "last 30 days". Note that "this week" means from the start of this week to today, and "this month" means from the 1st of the month to today, not a rolling window. If you do not mention a period, Sidekick uses the last 7 days.
  • Ask for comparisons. Add "compared to the previous period" or "vs last week" to see percentage changes.
  • Ask for a trend when you want the day-by-day view, for example "revenue by day" or "CLV trend".
  • For products, ask for "top 10" or "worst", or search by product name.

What to expect in this version

  • Sidekick reads your numbers, it does not change anything. In this phase it answers questions about your insights. It does not edit settings or take actions on your store.
  • Answers, not advice. Sidekick reports what your data shows, such as where your funnel leaks. It does not push recommendations or suggestions.
  • CPA means cost per customer acquired, that is, how much ad spend it took to gain one customer.
  • If Google Ads is not connected, Sidekick simply reports that. Ad spend shows as 0 and CPA is shown as not available, with no prompt to connect or upgrade.
  • ROAS is not available yet. If you ask for ROAS, Sidekick will tell you it is not supported in this version rather than estimate it.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Which languages can I use? Sidekick understands many languages. Ask in whichever language you normally use with Sidekick.
  2. Do the numbers match my dashboards? Yes. Sidekick reads from the same data as your Business Insights screens, so for the same date range the numbers match.
  3. Can Sidekick change my settings or run actions? Not in this version. It answers questions about your data only.
  4. Why does Sidekick not give me recommendations? In this phase it focuses on accurate reporting. It shares observations, such as where your funnel leaks, without telling you what to do.
  5. Can it show ROAS? Not yet. The app does not calculate ROAS, so Sidekick will not estimate it.
  6. What does "CPA" mean here? The cost to acquire one customer (total ad spend divided by customers acquired).
