Omega Google Ads: Tracking Shop Pay and third-party gateway orders in GA4
Trakpilot can help track purchase events from orders that may be missed by browser-based tracking, such as orders completed through Shop Pay, including purchases made through the Shop app, or certain third-party payment gateways.
No extra setup is required if you have already:
- Installed Omega Google Ads, GA4 & GTM
- Connected GA4 or GTM
- Enabled purchase tracking
Once these requirements are met, Omega Google Ads will handle this feature automatically in the background.
Why some purchase events may be missed
Most tracking apps rely on browser pixels to send purchase events after checkout.
However, some purchases may happen outside the normal storefront flow, or the tracking page may not load as expected. For example, this can happen when a customer:
- Completes a purchase through Shop Pay or Shop App
- Uses a third-party payment gateway
- Finishes checkout outside the usual storefront environment
How Trakpilot helps
Omega Google Ads detects eligible orders using Shopify order data and sends the missing purchase events to GA4 automatically.
This helps recover purchase events that may not have been captured by the browser pixel.
What can improve after this update
After this feature is active, you may notice:
- More purchase events appearing in GA4
- Fewer missing purchase events
- A smaller gap between Shopify orders and GA4 purchase data
- Better tracking for orders completed through Shop Pay, Shop App, or third-party payment gateways
If your Google Ads conversions are imported from GA4, this may also help improve conversion reporting in Google Ads.
When this feature is especially useful
This feature is helpful if:
- GA4 shows fewer purchases than Shopify
- Google Ads conversion numbers are lower than your actual order count
- Your customers often use Shop Pay or Shop App
- Your store uses multiple payment gateways
- You have noticed missing purchase events in the past
It only helps recover purchase events that may have been missed when browser-based tracking could not run.
