Set up and customize Trust Badges
Overview
Trust badges build customer confidence at checkout by displaying security seals, certifications, partner logos, or any image that signals trust. Showing them at the right moment reassures shoppers that their purchase is safe and encourages them to complete checkout.
This article covers everything you need: creating a Trust Badge rule, choosing where it appears, styling the badges, and uploading your own custom badge images.
Plan availability:
- Premium β display Trust Badges on the Thank you page and Order status page
- Plus (Shopify Plus merchants) β display Trust Badges on the Checkout page in addition to Thank you and Order status
- Custom badge images β available on both Premium and Plus
When to use Trust Badges
Trust badges work best when they reinforce a specific concern shoppers have at that moment in their journey:
- At Checkout β payment security, free shipping guarantees, money-back guarantees
- On the Thank you and Order status page β post-purchase reassurance, shipping confidence, customer service availability
You don't need to show all 27 default badges. Three to five well-chosen badges that match your store's value proposition usually perform better than overloading the page.
If you sell certified products (organic, FDA-approved, eco-friendly, partner-stamped), uploading your own custom badge image is more effective than relying on a generic default β it tells your specific story instead of a stock one.
Step-by-Step Guide
Part 1: Create a Trust Badge rule
Step 1: Open the Blockify: Checkout Rules & COD app in your Shopify admin.
Step 2: Navigate to the Checkout Component tab.

Step 3: Click Create Component, then select Trust Badge.
Step 4: Enter a name for the rule. This is for your internal reference only β it won't be shown to customers.
Part 2: Choose when Trust Badges display
Step 5: Pick a display condition:
- Always β show the badges to every customer who reaches the page.
- Specific Condition β show only when conditions are met (e.g., cart value above a threshold, specific shipping method, customer tag).

Step 6: Click Save Condition to save the rule.
Part 3: Customize badge appearance in the Shopify checkout editor
Step 7: Click Go to Checkout Editor (Plus plan), or Go to Order Status / Thank You page editor (Premium plan).
Step 8: Add the Trust Badges block to your layout.

Step 9: In the block settings, choose a Layout:
- Horizontal (default) β badges sit side by side in a row, each with its label underneath.
- Vertical β each badge sits on its own line with the icon on the left and a title plus a short description beside it.
*Step 10:** Configure each badge slot:
- Badge β pick one of the 27 default badges (Free shipping, Secure checkout, Money back guarantee, Premium quality, eco and dietary certifications, and more)
- Text β the title/label shown for each badge
- Style β choose Dark or Light icon color to match your theme
Step 11: Save the editor. Your Trust Badges are now live on your store.
Note: To use an icon color beyond Dark or Light (Navy, Red, Green, or any specific brand color), contact our support via chat. We can manually override the color for your store.
Part 4: Add your own custom badge images
If none of the 27 default badges fit your needs β for example, you want to display ISO 9001, FDA Approved, Climate Neutral, a partner logo, or an award seal β you can upload your own image. You can also override a badge's description (the text shown in the Vertical layout) without changing its image.
Step 12: In the Checkout Component tab, find the Trust Badge card and click + Add custom badges. This opens the Trust Badge settings page (store-wide configuration that applies to all Trust Badge rules).

Step 13 (optional): Click Browse default badges in the top-right of the Custom badges card. A modal opens showing all 27 default badges shoppers see at checkout. Slots you've already overridden are highlighted with your custom image and an Overridden label. This step is helpful to confirm a default doesn't already cover what you need. Click Close when done.

Step 14: In the Add custom badge section, set up what you want to override. Both fields are optional β fill in the image, the description, or both:
- Image (optional) β click the dashed + box under Image. The Choose image modal opens with two options:
- Pick from your Shopify Files library β use the search bar to find an image you've already uploaded, select it, then click Done.
- Upload a new image β click Upload image in the modal footer. You can either click Add image to upload a file (accepts
.jpg,.png,.webp, up to 2 MB), or paste a public HTTPS image URL into the Image URL field and click Import. Then click Done. - Description (optional) β type the text you want to show beside this badge in the Vertical layout. Leave it blank to keep the badge's default description.

Step 15: In the Replaces preset dropdown, choose which preset slot your custom image will replace. For example, if you want to display ISO 9001 but don't use the "Premium quality" default, pick "Premium quality" β your custom image will show whenever that preset is selected in the checkout editor. Presets already used by other custom badges in your store appear disabled.

Step 16: Click + Add to save the custom badge. It now appears in the Custom badges list, and the counter at the top updates (e.g., "1 of 27 used").
Step 17: Open the Shopify checkout editor (or the Order Status / Thank You page editor), go to the Trust Badges block, and pick the replaced preset name in the badge dropdown. Your custom image will now display on the storefront instead of the default Blockify image. The text below the badge still comes from the Text field in the editor, so you can label it however you like.
Note: Image specs β.jpg,.png, or.webp, up to 2 MB. For best quality, use a square image with a transparent background.
Note: Custom badge images apply store-wide. Once you upload a custom for "Premium quality," every Trust Badge rule that uses "Premium quality" will display your image β not just the rule you're currently editing.
FAQ
Q: How many custom badges can I add? A: Up to 27 β one for each preset slot. Each custom badge replaces one of the 27 default presets.
Q: Can I use different custom badges for different rules? A: No, custom badges are store-wide for now. The same custom badge applies to every Trust Badge rule in your store. We're considering per-rule customization for a future update.
Q: What happens if I delete a custom badge? A: The preset slot it replaced will fall back to the default Blockify image on the storefront. The image you uploaded stays in your Shopify Files library, so you can reuse it later.
Q: Can I change the badge color to match my brand exactly? A: Self-serve color customization isn't available yet. You can choose between Dark and Light in the checkout editor. For specific brand colors (Navy, Red, Green, or any custom HEX), contact our support via chat β we'll override the color for your store manually.
Q: I downgraded from Plus to a lower plan. Will I lose my custom badges? A: No. Your custom badge records stay in our system after a downgrade. When you upgrade back, your setup will be there ready to use.
Q: I'm on the Free or Basic plan. Can I use Trust Badges? A: Trust Badges require a Premium or Plus plan. The Trust Badge component is locked on Free and Basic tiers.
Q: My customers don't see the badges on the storefront. What should I check? A: Verify three things: (1) the rule's display condition is actually met for that customer (cart value, shipping method, etc.), (2) the Trust Badges block has been added inside the appropriate editor (checkout editor for Plus, or post-purchase editor for Premium), and (3) your plan supports the surface you're displaying on. If badges still don't appear, reach out to support via chat.
