About B2B Conditions

How to set up B2B rules in Blockify Checkout

Overview

B2B rules in Blockify Checkout let you control how B2B buyers experience your checkout, payment, and shipping. You can enforce minimum order values for wholesale customers, restrict payment methods for specific companies, offer free shipping to B2B orders, and more β€” all based on whether a buyer is a registered company in your Shopify store.

This feature is available on all paid plans. Checkout Validation rules work on the Free plan. Payment Customization and Shipping rules require Basic plan or higher.

You'll need at least one Company set up in your Shopify B2B section before B2B rules become useful. If you haven't added companies yet, go to your Shopify Admin β†’ Customers β†’ Companies to create your first one.

When to use B2B rules

B2B rules are designed for stores that sell to both retail and business customers, or stores that have different agreements with different companies. Common use cases:

  • Minimum order value for wholesale β€” Block checkout if a B2B cart total is below your wholesale minimum (e.g., $500).
  • Hide credit card for Net Terms companies β€” Restrict payment methods so only approved Net Terms companies see your invoice option.
  • Free shipping for B2B orders β€” Automatically apply free shipping to any order placed by a company account.
  • Restrict shipping by location β€” Block orders from a specific company branch if you're not fulfilling that region yet.
  • Different rules per company β€” Set custom terms (minimums, payment access, shipping options) for individual companies you've negotiated with.

Don't use B2B rules for retail-only changes. If your rule shouldn't depend on whether the buyer is a company, use regular conditions (Cart Total, Customer Tag, etc.) instead.

Available B2B conditions

When you create or edit a rule, you'll find these conditions under the B2B tab in the condition picker:

  • Is B2B buyer β€” Matches any order placed by a company account, regardless of which company. Use this for store-wide B2B rules.
  • Company β€” Matches a specific company you select from a list. Use this when you have different rules for different companies.
  • Company location β€” Matches a specific branch of a company. Use this when one company has multiple locations and you want to treat them differently.

You can combine B2B conditions with other Blockify conditions (Cart Total, Cart Subtotal, Cart Quantity, Market, Country, Customer Tag, Product, and more) to build more specific rules.

Step-by-step: Create your first B2B rule

This example creates a rule that blocks checkout if a B2B cart total is below $500.

Step 1: Open Blockify Checkout from your Shopify admin.

Step 2: Go to Checkout Validation and click + Add new rule.

Step 3: Give your rule a clear name, such as "B2B minimum order β€” $500".

Step 4: In the IF section, click + Add condition.

Step 5: In the condition picker, click the B2B tab.

Step 6: Select Is B2B buyer. Set the trigger to is and the value to true.

Step 7: Click + Add condition again to add a second condition.

Step 8: Select Cart Total from the Cart tab. Set the trigger to less than and the value to 500.

Step 9: Make sure the logic operator between the two conditions is set to AND.

Step 10: In the THEN section, enter your error message. Example: We can't complete your order at this time. Please contact us for assistance.

Step 11: Set the rule status to Active and click Save.

Your rule is now live. Any B2B buyer who tries to check out with a cart under $500 will see your error message and won't be able to complete the order. Regular retail customers are unaffected.

Setting up B2B rules for Payment or Shipping

The flow is similar for Payment Customization and Shipping rules.

Step 1: Open Blockify Checkout and go to either Payment Customization or Shipping.

Step 2: Click + Add new rule and give it a clear name.

Step 3: In the IF section, add a B2B condition from the B2B tab (and any other conditions you need).

Step 4: In the THEN section, choose your action β€” for Payment, you can Hide, Show, Reorder, or Rename payment methods. For Shipping, you can do the same with shipping methods.

Step 5: Save and activate the rule.

Note: Payment Customization and Shipping rules are not available on the Free plan. If you don't see these options, upgrade to Basic or higher.

The B2B widget on your Dashboard

When Blockify detects that your store has at least one B2B Company set up in Shopify, a Built for B2B widget appears on your Dashboard. This widget gives you a shortcut to set up your first B2B rule with the right condition pre-selected.

Click Set up checkout rule to jump straight into the Checkout Validation builder with B2B conditions ready. Use the chevron next to it to access Payment and Shipping shortcuts.

You can dismiss the widget any time by clicking the X in the corner β€” it won't reappear.

FAQ

Q: Do I need Shopify Plus to use B2B rules? A: No. Shopify made B2B available on all paid plans (Basic, Grow, Advanced, and Plus) from April 2026. As long as you have at least one Company set up in your Shopify B2B section, B2B rules work in Blockify.

Q: Can I create B2B rules on the Free plan? A: You can create Checkout Validation rules with B2B conditions on the Free plan. Payment Customization and Shipping rules require Basic plan or higher. If you try to edit conditions in those features on Free, you'll see an upgrade prompt inline.

Q: What if I haven't added any Companies in Shopify yet? A: B2B rules only match orders placed by company accounts. If you haven't set up Companies in Shopify, no orders will trigger your B2B rules. Add companies under Shopify Admin β†’ Customers β†’ Companies first.

Q: How does Blockify know a buyer is B2B? A: At checkout, Shopify provides the buyer's company information to Blockify when the buyer is logged in with a company account. Blockify uses that to match your B2B conditions.

Q: Can I have different rules for different companies? A: Yes. Use the Company condition and pick a specific company from the list. Create one rule per company if you need different terms.

Q: What happens to retail (non-B2B) customers? A: B2B rules only apply when the buyer is a company. Retail customers go through checkout normally and don't see your B2B-specific restrictions.

Q: Why is my B2B rule not triggering? A: Common causes: (1) the buyer isn't logged in with a company account at checkout, (2) the rule isn't set to Active, (3) another rule is blocking first, or (4) your condition logic (AND/OR) isn't correct. Check each in order

Note: B2B identity conditions (Is B2B buyer, Company, Company location) are read-only at checkout. You can't change a buyer's company status from inside Blockify β€” that's managed in Shopify Admin.
