Add a Free Shipping Bar (for Shopify Plus only)
A Free Shipping Bar (or Reward Bar) helps increase your conversion rate and average order value by encouraging customers to spend more to unlock free shipping at checkout. You can now also control when the bar appears using conditions — so it shows only to the customers, carts, or markets you want.
Note: The Free Shipping Bar is available on Shopify Plus only.
When to use conditions
By default the bar can show to everyone, but conditions let you target it so the message lands where it matters most:
- Threshold-based markets: Show the bar only in countries where you actually offer free shipping.
- Customer segments: Display it only to new customers, or only to a specific customer group.
- Cart-based targeting: Show it only when the cart contains certain products or reaches a certain value.
If you want the bar to behave exactly as before — visible to all customers — simply leave it set to Always.
Prerequisites
Before setting up the Free Shipping Bar, make sure you have a Free Shipping Discount available:
- Set up a Free Shipping Discount in Blockify: Go to Shipping Rule > Shipping Discount in the Blockify: Checkout Rules app and create a new discount.
- Apply a Shopify Native Discount (if discounting the entire order): You can create a discount directly in your Shopify Admin. Follow this guide for setup.

Steps to set up the Free Shipping Bar
Step 1: Open the Blockify: Checkout Rules app and navigate to the Checkout Component tab.
Step 2: Click Create Component and select Free Shipping Bar.

Step 3: Set a name for internal reference.
Step 4: Enter the Min Order Value (Spending threshold) customers need to reach to unlock free shipping.
Step 5: Choose when the bar should appear:
- Always — the bar is shown to every customer at checkout.
- Specific condition — the bar is shown only when your conditions are met.

Step 6: If you chose Specific condition, click Add condition and select the conditions you want (for example, country, customer, or cart value). You can add multiple conditions and combine them with AND / OR logic — the same way conditions work for other checkout components like Trust Badge and Image Banner.
Step 7: Click Save Condition, then select Go to Checkout Editor to customize the appearance of the progress bar.

Step 8: Add the Free Shipping Bar block, then style and customize the text as needed.

Step 9: Customize the congratulatory message to display once the customer qualifies for free shipping.

Your Free Shipping Bar is now set up and ready to encourage higher spending at checkout! 🚀
FAQ
Q: Can I use the Free Shipping Bar on plans other than Plus? A: No. The Free Shipping Bar is available on Shopify Plus only.
Q: What happens to Free Shipping Bars I created before conditions were added? A: They keep working exactly as before. Existing bars are automatically set to Always, so they continue to show to all customers. You can open any bar and switch it to Specific condition whenever you like.
Q: What does the customer see if my conditions aren't met? A: The bar is hidden entirely for that customer. The rest of the checkout page is not affected.
Q: Do conditions change how the spending threshold is calculated? A: No. Conditions only decide whether the bar is shown. The free shipping progress and threshold are calculated the same way as before.
