Auto-block checkout with free products
Overview
Stop bots from grabbing your free products. Some bots place orders made only of free products — subtotal $0 — using a made-up name: either the same word for first and last name, or two names that don't belong to a real person. Auto-block checkout with free products is two checkboxes under Quick Setup on the Block Checkout page that stop those checkouts before an order is created.

How to enable Auto-block checkout with free products?
Step 1: Open Quick Setup
Go to Block Checkout and find the Quick Setup section at the top of the page.
Step 2: Tick the option you need
Checkbox | Blocks a checkout when |
|---|---|
Auto-block creating orders with a subtotal of 0 and matching last name with first name. | The subtotal is $0 and the first and last name are identical (for example "Test Test") |
Auto-block creating orders with a subtotal of 0 and different first and last name. | The subtotal is $0 and the first and last name are different |
Tick one or both. The setting applies immediately.

How it works?
When a checkout matches a ticked option, Blockify stops it and the checkout page shows the Error message set under Quick Setup — by default "Order cannot be placed due to suspected fraud."

- Subtotal means the product total only. Shipping, taxes and other fees are not counted, so a cart of free products with paid shipping still has a subtotal of $0 and is blocked.
- Ticking both boxes blocks every $0 checkout, whatever the name.
- Orders already placed are not affected; the feature only stops new checkouts.
Who can use this feature?
Available on the Enterprise plan and above.
FAQs
- I give away free samples. Will real customers be blocked?
Yes if their checkout matches a ticked option. If you run legitimate $0 promotions, tick only the "matching last name with first name" option, or leave both off and rely on other checkout rules.
- Is a $0 order with a 100% discount code blocked too?
Yes. Blockify looks at the subtotal after discounts; if it is $0, the option applies.
- Can I change the message the shopper sees?
Yes. Edit the Error message field under Quick Setup; it cannot be blank.
- Does this cancel $0 orders that already exist?
No. The feature only stops new checkouts; existing orders are handled in Fraud Filters.
