Block products, collections and specific pages
Overview
Sometimes you do not want to block a visitor from the whole store, only from part of it: a product that cannot ship to their country, a wholesale collection, or a page that is not for them. Block products and Block specific page rules do exactly that, limited to visitors from the countries (and optionally provinces) you choose. You create them in Block & Re-director > Blacklist; the same conditions are available under Redirect and Whitelist.
What you'll learn
How to block a product, collection or page?
Step 1: Go to Block & Re-director > Blacklist > Block. Click Block products for a product or collection, or Block specific page for a page or URL.

Step 2: Set Status to Enable so the rule works as soon as you save it, or Disable to save it for later.

Step 3: Choose the Select condition and fill in its fields (see below).
Step 4: Under Select country, pick the countries the rule applies to. For products and collections you can narrow it with Province (optional).
Step 5: Add a private note if you want, then click Save. The rule appears in the Blacklist tab.
Specific Products
Pick the products in Select product. Visitors from the selected countries are blocked when they open any of those product pages.

Specific Collection
Pick the collections in Select collection. Matching visitors are blocked on those collection pages.

Specific Pages
In Block specific page, keep Select condition on Specific Pages and pick from Select pages, which lists the pages of your online store.

Custom URL
In Block specific page, set Select condition to Custom URL and enter a valid URL of your store, for example a blog post or landing page that is not in the page list.

How it works?
Condition | Blocks | Applies to visitors from |
|---|---|---|
Specific Products | The selected product pages | Country, Province (optional) |
Specific Collection | The selected collection pages | Country, Province (optional) |
Specific Pages | Pages picked from your store's page list | Country |
Custom URL | The exact URL you enter | Country |
- The rest of the store stays open. A matching visitor sees your blocking page only on the product, collection or page in the rule.
- Visitors outside the selected countries or provinces are not affected.
- Whitelist rules are checked first, so a whitelisted IP or country can still open the page. See Create a whitelist rule.
- The same conditions exist as Redirect products / Redirect specific page (send matching visitors to another URL or Shopify Market) and Whitelist products / Whitelist specific page (let matching visitors through).
Who can use this feature?
Available on the Premium plan and above.
FAQs
- Can I block a product for every country?
Select all the countries in Select country. The rule then applies to every visitor who opens that product.
- Can I redirect instead of block?
Yes. Use Redirect > Redirect products or Redirect specific page, fill in Redirect to and pick the same condition. See Use a Shopify Market as your redirect destination.
- Where do I see how many visitors the rule blocked?
In the visitor log, filter by Block reason and the date range. There is no per-rule counter in the rule list.
