Create Product Limit Rules

Use product limit rules to control how many units of a product (or product group) a customer can buy per order, per day, per month, or per year.


  1. Go to "Limit purchase" from admin menu. Click the "Create limit" button.

  1. Select limit type

  • Product limit: Min/Max Product Quantity, Qty Must Be Multiple of X, Min/Max Collection Quantity, Block Product Combination, Require Product Dependency
  • Advanced limit: Limit Qty by Customer, Market/Country Limit, Schedule-Based Activation, Customize limit rules

  1. Click Add template on your chosen type.
  2. Name your setting
  • Enter a name in the Name field (e.g. Limit - Summer Collection)
  1. Setup Product Limit Rule
  • This allows you to set the min, max, or multiple number of units a customer can purchase for a specific product or variant in a single order
  • Min (quantity) — the minimum number a customer must buy (leave blank or enter 0for no minimum)
  • Max (quantity) — the maximum number a customer can buy (leave blank or enter 0 for no maximum)
  • Multiple — if you want purchases to happen in multiples only (e.g., 6 means customers must buy 6, 12, 18, etc.)

  • Set the maximum purchase limit equal to the product's available inventory, check the "Set the maximum equal to the inventory" option.

Tip: The Limit preview panel on the right shows a live preview of how the rule message will appear on a product page.


  1. Set how the limit is tracked
  • Under Limit scope (per customer), choose how often the limit resets
  • Per order: the limit applies to each checkout. Resets with every new order.
  • Per day: tracks the customer's total purchases within a calendar day.
  • Per month: tracks total purchases within a calendar month.
  • Per year: tracks total purchases within a calendar year.
  • Lifetime: tracks total purchases across all time.

  1. Choose which products the rule applies to.


Under Apply to, select one of 5 options:

  • All products: Apply the limit rules to all products in your store
  • Specific collections: Apply the limit rules to the selected collections

  • Group products: Apply the limit rules to products that match specific conditions (e.g., tags, titles, or vendors)

  • Specific products: Apply the limit rules to the selected individual products

  1. Set how quantities are counted


Under Set quantity condition, choose how the app tallies up the customer's cart:

  • Total quantity of all selected products: Add the total quantity of products belonging to the selected collections and compare min/max
  • Total quantity of each selected collections: Add the total quantity of products in each selected collection and compare min/max
  • Total quantity of each selected products: Sum the quantities of each product to compare min/max
  • Total quantity of each selected variants: the quantity of each variant to compare min/max


  1. Apply to markets
  • Allows merchants to set personalized limit rules for each market or country, tailoring restrictions to regional needs.
  • Under Apply to markets, select which countries or regions this rule show apply to.
  • By default, all markets are selected.
  • Search and choose the countries/regions where you want the rule to apply.

  1. Schedule


You can set start and end times for limit rules, and the system will automatically follow the schedule, saving management time.


  • Check Set Schedule to run this rule only during a specific time window.
  • Choose a Schedule timezone, then set a Start date and Start time.
  • Check Set end date and add an end date/time if you want the rule to automatically turn off.

  1. Customize the notification messages


Under Display settings, edit the messages customers see when they violate the rule:

  • Minimum notification: shown when the quantity is below the minimum
  • Maximum notification: shown when the quantity exceeds the maximum
  • Multiple notification: shown when the quantity isn't a valid multiple
  • Notification background: background color of the alert
  • Notification color: text color of the alert

Note: %min, %max, and %m are placeholders — the app automatically replaces them with the actual numbers from your rule
