Ensuring App Compatibility with Your Theme

Ensuring app compatibility with your theme

DingDoong is built to work with every Shopify theme. Most themes work out of the box; some custom or third-party themes need a minor adjustment. This guide shows how to check, and what to do if your theme needs help.

Available on all plans.

Overview

The date picker can display Pickup and Local Delivery dates on your Product page, Cart page, and Cart drawer / slide cart. As long as the app embed is active and a scheduling rule exists, the widget renders on supported themes automatically.

Before you start

  • DingDoong is installed.
  • You know your theme's name (Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes).

Supported Shopify free themes

DingDoong supports all 23 Shopify free themes, including the latest Horizon collection (Shopify Edition Summer 2025):

Dawn, Spotlight, Craft, Trade, Sense, Refresh, Horizon, Studio, Ride, Origin, Taste, Savor, Publisher, Tinker, Fabric, Crave, Vessel, Dwell, Atelier, Pitch, Heritage, Ritual, Colorblock.

Note for the Horizon theme collection

On Horizon, turn off Quick View and remove the "Buy It Now" button if you want to require customers to select a date before checkout — both can bypass date selection. Full Horizon compatibility is actively being improved.

Using a theme that isn't listed

Many custom and third-party themes work with minor adjustments. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Test the app features

Install the app and check whether the widget appears on your product page, cart page, or cart drawer.

Step 2: Place the widget manually

If it doesn't appear automatically, use Widget settings to place it manually by entering your theme's selector (the div where it should mount).

Step 3: Contact support for advanced adjustments

For anything more complex, our team integrates unsupported themes for free — just reach out.

Common scenarios

Widget missing on a custom theme

Try manual placement first; if it still doesn't show, send us your theme name and a screenshot.

Widget appears but is misaligned

Theme-specific styling can shift the widget. Adjust placement in Widget settings or contact us for a CSS fix.

You're about to switch themes

Re-check the embed after switching — Shopify resets app embeds per theme.

Troubleshooting

Common issues with unsupported themes

  • Missing elements — the widget doesn't appear. Confirm the embed is enabled and a scheduling rule exists.
  • Misaligned widget — caused by theme design differences. Fix via manual placement or contact support.

Steps to resolve

  1. Ensure the app is installed and the embed is enabled.
  2. Use the widget customization/placement options.
  3. If it persists, send support your theme name, a description, and screenshots.

FAQ
