Why is the date picker not showing on my store?
Why is the date picker not showing on my store?
The date picker widget not appearing is almost always caused by one of six setup issues. Work through this checklist from top to bottom β most cases are fixed in under five minutes.
Overview
The DingDoong widget needs three things to render: the app embed activated in your theme, at least one delivery method enabled, and the product being eligible for that method. If any link in that chain is off, the calendar silently doesn't show. Below are the causes in order of how often they happen.
Before you start
- You can open your Shopify admin β Online Store β Themes.
- You know which page the widget should appear on (product, cart, cart drawer, or checkout).
Checklist: 6 most common causes
1. App embed is not activated in your theme
This is the #1 cause. Go to the DingDoong Dashboard β if you see a warning banner, the app embed is off.
Fix: click the activation button on the Dashboard (or go to Online Store β Themes β Customize β App embeds and enable DingDoong), then Save in the theme editor.
2. No delivery method is enabled
The widget only renders when at least one method (Shipping, Local delivery, or Store pickup) is turned on.
Fix: see How to enable shipping, How to enable Local delivery, or How to enable Pickup.
3. The product is excluded by Product availability
If your method's Product availability is set to Include products and the product you're viewing isn't in the list (or it's in the Exclude list), the widget hides on purpose.
Fix: review Product availability for each enabled method.
4. You're looking at the wrong page
The widget only shows where you placed it. If it's configured for the cart page, it won't appear on product pages β and vice versa.
Fix: check Widget display and compare with Where can you display date picker?
5. Mixed cart condition is hiding the method
If your cart mixes eligible and ineligible products, the Mixed cart condition setting may hide the scheduling method for the whole cart.
Fix: test with a cart containing only eligible products, then adjust the mixed cart setting.
6. Theme compatibility
Some custom or heavily modified third-party themes need a small adjustment to render the widget container.
Fix: follow Ensuring App Compatibility with Your Theme, or contact us β our team integrates unsupported themes for free.
Still not showing?
Try these before contacting support:
- Open your store in an incognito window (your browser may cache the old page).
- Test on a test theme to rule out theme conflicts.
- Place a test order to confirm the full flow.

FAQ
The widget shows for me but not for customers?
You're likely previewing a draft theme where the embed is on, while the live theme has it off. Activate the embed on the live theme.
The widget shows but dates are greyed out or missing?
That's a schedule configuration topic, not a display issue β check your cutoff/prep time, blackout dates, and order limits in Schedule & Availability.
How do I temporarily hide the widget without uninstalling?
Turn off the app embed in the theme editor. All your settings are kept and the widget returns when you re-enable it.
