Exchange for out of stock variant

Overview


In Synctrack Returns, merchants can set up exchange advance rules to optimize the exchange workflow.

The Exchange for out-of-stock variant feature allows customers to exchange for variants that are currently out of stock only when the variant is still allowed to continue selling on Shopify.

This helps merchants support exchange for pre-order or backorder items, while preventing customers from exchanging to variants that are out of stock because they are discontinued or no longer available for sale.


How to enable Reserve stock on request for exchange?

Go to Settings > Configuration

  • Tick checkbox "Exchange for out of stock variant"
  • Click "Save"


How it works?


When this setting is enabled, Synctrack checks both:

  • The variant stock quantity
  • The Shopify setting "Continue selling when out of stock"

A variant that is out of stock will only be available for exchange if Continue selling when out of stock is enabled in Shopify.




Assume:

  • Product A has 0 units in stock.

Feature

System Behavior

Active

Product A appears on the exchange page and customers can select it for exchange with "Available" number

Inactive

Product A does not appear on the exchange page and customers cannot select it for exchange




The feature is only available when you enable the Exchange option in your Settings.
