Integration with Klaviyo x Blockify

Overview

Keep risky buyers out of your email campaigns. Whenever Blockify flags an order as high-risk or medium-risk, it adds a tag to that customer's profile in Klaviyo, so you can build Klaviyo segments and flows around the tag, for example to leave risky customers out of campaigns. Set it up in Integrations > Klaviyo with a Klaviyo Private API key (a code from Klaviyo that lets Blockify add tags to your profiles).

What you'll learn

Requirement

  • A Klaviyo account connected to the same Shopify store.
  • Fraud Filters turned on in Blockify, so orders get a risk level that Blockify can send to Klaviyo.

Step 1: Get your Klaviyo Private API key

  1. Sign in to Klaviyo, click your Account name in the bottom-left corner and select Settings.

  1. In Settings, open API Keys and click Create Private API Key.

  1. Enter a Private API Key Name (for example "Blockify"), choose Full Access Key under Select Access Level, then click Create in the top-right corner.

  1. On the confirmation page, copy the key shown under Your Private Key. It looks like pk_436db120d44347058e96d4832d3abed094.

Important: Klaviyo shows the full key only once. Copy it now; if you lose it, create a new key and reconnect.

Step 2: Connect Klaviyo to Blockify

  1. In the Blockify admin, open Integrations and click Set up on the Klaviyo card.

  1. If Klaviyo is not installed on your store yet, click Install and add it from the Shopify App Store.

  1. Paste the key from Step 1 into the Private Key field and click Connect.

  1. The Connection status changes to Connected and the Install button disappears.

Tip: If you see "Connect Klaviyo failed", the key was not pasted correctly or does not have enough access. Create a new Full Access Key in Klaviyo and try again.

Step 3: Turn on automatic sending

Under Sync Settings, tick Automatically sync risky orders. While it is on, Blockify sends every risky order to Klaviyo for you.

Once the box is ticked, you can change the Conditions & Tags section below.

Step 4: Choose which orders to tag

Under Conditions & Tags, choose which orders to send and what tag to give them.

Field

What it does

Example

When Blockify finds a risky order with type:

Tick High-risk order, Medium-risk order or both. Blockify sends only orders at the ticked levels to Klaviyo

High-risk order only, to keep the segment small

Add a tag name

The tag Blockify adds to the customer's Klaviyo profile for that risk level

blockify-high-risk

Each ticked risk level needs a tag name; you cannot leave it empty. Use a different tag for each level so you can treat high-risk and medium-risk customers differently in Klaviyo.

Step 5: View profiles in Klaviyo

  1. Log in to Klaviyo and go to Audience > Profiles. The list shows every profile with name, email, phone number, created and updated dates, and location.
  2. Use the search bar to find a profile by name, email or phone number, or click Create segment to group profiles by a Blockify tag.

  1. Click a customer's name to open the profile. You will see their contact details, activity timeline, the tags Blockify added, and their campaign, flow and subscription status.

Who can use this feature?

Available on all plans.

FAQs

  1. Blockify found a risky order but no profile was tagged. Why?

Check that Automatically sync risky orders is ticked, that the order's risk level is ticked under Conditions & Tags, and that the order has a customer email that matches a Klaviyo profile. Blockify cannot tag orders placed without an email.

  1. Can I send orders Blockify flagged before I connected Klaviyo?

No. Blockify only sends orders it flags as risky after you tick Automatically sync risky orders.

  1. Does Blockify remove the tag if I later mark the order as safe?

No. Blockify only adds tags; it never removes them. Remove the tag yourself in the Klaviyo profile if needed.

  1. What happens if I disconnect Klaviyo?

Blockify stops sending orders right away. Tags already on Klaviyo profiles stay there.

  1. Can I use a different Klaviyo account later?

Yes. Disconnect the current account in Integrations > Klaviyo, then connect again with a Private API key from the other account.
