Local delivery validation methods

Local delivery validation methods

Choose how DingDoong checks whether a customer's address is eligible for local delivery. There are five methods — pick the one that matches how you actually deliver.

Available on all plans.

Overview

Validation runs when a customer enters their address (or postal code) in the widget. If their location is eligible, they can pick a delivery date; if not, they're told delivery isn't available. You set the method in General settings → Local delivery validation, and can refine it per delivery zone.

Changing the validation method doesn't affect existing orders — it only changes how new customers are checked.

Before you start

The five validation methods

Method

Best for

How it checks

No validation

Deliver everywhere; no address check

Customer just picks a date

Postal/ZIP code

Fixed list of neighborhoods

Matches the postal code the customer enters

Radius (distance)

"Within X miles/km of my store"

Measures distance from your location to the address

State / City

Deliver to certain states or cities

Matches the customer's state/city

Country

Deliver to certain countries

Matches the customer's country

How it looks on the storefront

With validation on, customers enter their address/postal code and see whether delivery is available before choosing a date. With No validation, they go straight to date selection.

Common scenarios

Bakery delivering within 10 miles

Use Radius, set 10 mi from your store.

Florist serving a few postal codes

Use Postal/ZIP code with exact matching.

Regional store shipping to select states

Use State/City.

Tips & Best practices

Radius validation needs an accurate store address and (for the map) a Google Maps API key — see Google Maps API.

If you deliver to many postal codes, use Partial postal code matching instead of entering each code.

Troubleshooting

Valid addresses are rejected?

Your zone is too narrow or the method doesn't match your real area. Widen the radius / add the missing codes / switch methods.

Radius isn't measuring correctly?

Confirm your location's address is exact and your Google Maps API key is valid.

FAQ

Can I use different methods per zone/location?

Yes — refine validation per delivery zone after picking the base method.

How do I switch back to no checking?

Choose No validation and save.
