Minimum order value

Minimum order value

Require a minimum order amount before a delivery/pickup method (or a surcharge) applies — so small orders don't trigger an unprofitable delivery.

This feature requires the Essential plan or above.

Overview

DingDoong supports two minimum-value settings:

  • Minimum order value for a method — customers must reach a spend threshold before the method is offered.
  • Minimum order value for a surcharge — a surcharge applies (or is waived) based on the order amount, e.g., free delivery above a threshold.

The widget shows a message when the cart hasn't met the minimum yet.

Setting a minimum affects only new orders — existing orders are unaffected.

Before you start

  • The method (Local delivery, Pickup, or Shipping) is enabled with a scheduling rule.

How to set a minimum order value

Here's how, step by step:

Step 1: Open the method's rule

Go to the method and find the minimum order value setting.

Step 1: Open the rule

Step 2: Enter the threshold

Enter the minimum amount required for the method (and/or the threshold that controls the surcharge).

Step 2: Enter the threshold

Step 3: Save and check the message

Save, then test with a small cart — the widget shows the "minimum not met" message until the cart reaches the threshold.

Step 3: Minimum message on storefront

Common scenarios

Minimum spend for local delivery

Require, say, a 30.00 minimum before local delivery is offered, so deliveries stay worthwhile.

Free delivery above a threshold

Use the surcharge minimum so the delivery fee is waived once the cart passes the threshold.

No minimum for pickup

Leave pickup's minimum at 0 while keeping one on delivery.

Tips & Best practices

Phrase the storefront message helpfully ("Add X more for delivery") via Translation so customers know how to qualify rather than just being blocked.

Set realistic minimums — too high turns away otherwise-good orders.

Troubleshooting

The method is hidden for everyone?

Your minimum may be higher than typical carts. Lower it, or confirm you intended a minimum at all (0 = none).

The message doesn't show?

Confirm the minimum is set on the method the customer is using and the cart is below it.

FAQ

Does the minimum count discounts/taxes?

It's based on the order amount — test with a representative cart to confirm the behavior for your store.

How do I remove the minimum?

Set it to 0 and save.
