Rule Not Working? Common Causes & Fixes
This article covers the most common reasons a Blockify Checkout rule may not work the way you set it up, and how to fix each one. Find the symptom that matches your case below.
1. Renaming a payment method doesn't work
Symptom: You created a rule to hide/show/rename a payment method — for example, changing "Credit Card & Wallet Payments" to "CREDIT CARD" — but the new name doesn't show at checkout, or the payment method you want doesn't appear in the rule's dropdown.
Cause: The payment name you see at checkout (for example, "Paiement par Carte de crédit") is generated by your payment provider. Behind that single option, your provider can actually expose several separate payment methods. For example, one checkout option may be made up of entries like "Deferred", "Stripe shared token", "Credit Card & Wallet Payments powered by PayTabs", and "Gift card". These entries are different for each provider. For the new name to show correctly, all of the related entries need to be renamed together — not just the one name you see.
Fix: Because the exact set of entries depends on your specific provider setup, this case needs our team to set it up for you.
Note: Once the app is installed, our team can already see the details we need — you don't have to share logs manually. Just reach out via Contact us in the app and tell us the payment name you want, and we'll configure the rule for you.
2. Do I need to enable the app embed?
Symptom: You're not sure whether to enable the app embed in your theme, or you're wondering if a rule isn't working because the app isn't embedded.
Cause: The app embed is only required for the Hide Dynamic Payment feature. For every other rule, the embed is not needed for the rule to work. The "enable embed" prompt appears because Shopify requires it during app review — not because every rule depends on it.
Fix:
If you're using Hide Dynamic Payment, enable the app embed:
Step 1: In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
Step 2: On your current theme, click Customize.
Step 3: Open App embeds, turn on Blockify Checkout, then click Save.
If you're using any other rule, you don't need the app embed for it to work.
