Using Shopify rates
Using Shopify rates
Prefer to charge for delivery/shipping through Shopify's native rate settings? Here's how Shopify rates work with DingDoong.
Overview
DingDoong displays your delivery method and date picker; Shopify can handle the actual rate shown at checkout. Shopify rates suit merchants who want flat, price-based, weight-based, free, or carrier-calculated shipping.
Before you start
- You can access Shopify admin → Settings → Shipping and delivery.
Shopify rate types
Type | How it works | Example |
|---|---|---|
Flat | Fixed fee per order | $5 standard, $15 expedited |
Price-based (popular) | Fee varies by cart value | $4 under $50, free over $100 |
Weight-based | Fee varies by total weight | $7 under 5 kg, $15 over 5 kg |
Free | Any rate set to $0 | Free over $100 |
Carrier-calculated | Live rates from USPS/UPS/DHL/etc. | Based on weight, size, destination |
Set up shipping rates for all products
- Go to Shopify admin → Settings → Shipping and delivery → General shipping rates.
- Add rate — set the rate name, delivery description, and amount; preview on the checkout page.
- Add conditions for min/max order price or weight ranges as needed.
Set up rates for specific products
- Create a custom shipping zone/profile.
- Add the products, add the shipping zone, then add rates — same as above, but scoped to those products.
Set up local delivery rates (ZIP codes / radius)
- Go to Settings → Shipping and delivery → Local delivery.
- Turn on Local delivery and choose the zone type: postal/ZIP codes or maximum radius.
- Add conditional pricing by order value if needed (e.g., $5 over $5, $3 over $10, free over $20).
- Save and preview at checkout.
