A complete guide: Customize your blocking page
Overview
The blocking page is what a visitor sees when a Blockify rule stops them from entering your store. Every store starts with the default template, and you can change its template, wording, colours, background and logo so the page matches your brand. Everything is set on Settings > Blocking template: the Loading page effect card, and the editor you open with Edit template.
What you'll learn
- Part 1: Open the editor and choose a template
- Part 2: Edit the template fields
- Part 3: Remove the Blockify brandmark
- Part 4: Add Custom CSS
- Part 5: Set the Loading page effect
- Part 6: Preview and save
- Request a custom blocking page
- Who can use this feature?
Part 1: Open the editor and choose a template
Step 1: In the Blockify admin, go to Settings > Blocking template. The card shows the template your store is using right now.
Step 2: Click Edit template to open the Blocking page editor.

Step 3: The editor has three tabs on the left, Template, Style and Custom CSS, and a live preview on the right. In the Template tab, click the template you want; the preview changes right away. Each template has its own layout, so pick the layout first and change the wording and colours afterwards.

Part 2: Edit the template fields
The Style tab on the left of the editor has every field of the template you picked. Change a field and the preview on the right changes with it.
Field | What it changes | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Title | The heading of the blocking page | Up to 64 characters; its Color picker sits next to the Text box |
Description | The message under the heading | Up to 256 characters; basic HTML is allowed, see Part 2 tip |
Super text | The short line of text the template shows above the title | Leave it empty if the template does not need it |
Background | The page background | Choose Background Color, Background Gradient or Background Image |
Logo (optional) | Your logo on the page | JPG, JPEG or PNG, up to 2 MB |

<b> for bold). See Customize your blocking page with HTML for the supported tags.Part 3: Remove the Blockify brandmark
The default page shows a small Blockify brandmark. To hide it, hover over the brandmark in the preview and click Click to remove brandmark. The brandmark comes back on its own if you later move to a lower plan that does not include this option.
Part 4: Add Custom CSS
Use Custom CSS when the fields in the Style tab are not enough, for example to change fonts, spacing or where something sits on the page. CSS is the code that controls how a web page looks; you only need it for changes the Style tab cannot make.
Step 1: In the editor, open the Custom CSS tab next to the Style tab.

Step 2: The box already has the CSS for each part of the template, such as the Title, Description and Logo. Change the values for the part you want to change, or add new lines at the end of the box.

Step 3: Click Save.
!important after the value, for example color: #ff6b35 !important;.
Part 5: Set the Loading page effect
Loading page effect decides whether the blocking page covers your whole store like a curtain (the "overlay effect") or sits on top of a store that still works. It is a separate card at the top of Settings > Blocking template, above the template preview, not inside the editor.
Step 1: Go to Settings > Blocking template.
Step 2: In the Loading page effect card ("Turn off if you don't want the overlay effect."), switch the toggle on or off. The badge next to the title shows On or Off.

Setting | What the blocked visitor sees | Best for |
|---|---|---|
Overlay effect on (default) | The blocking page covers the store. The visitor cannot click or read anything behind it, and blocked bots cannot read your store's content either. | Protecting content you do not want copied; keeping unwanted bots away from your pages |
Overlay effect off | The store loads fully in the background and still works; the blocking page appears on top of it. Bots can still read the page content. | Letting search engines read your pages (good for SEO, your ranking in Google); letting visitors see and use the store while blocked |

Part 6: Preview and save
There is no separate preview step: the panel on the right of the editor always shows the page as a blocked visitor will see it, including your HTML and Custom CSS, and changes as you type.
Step 1: As soon as you change something, the Unsaved changes bar appears at the top of the screen. Click Save to make the changes live, or Discard to throw away every unsaved change and go back to the last saved version.

Step 2: To check the live page, open your store from an IP address or country you have blocked, or create a short-term block rule for your own IP address and remove it afterwards.
Request a custom blocking page
If none of the templates match your brand, you can ask the Blockify team to build one for you, free of charge. You describe what you need in a short form inside the app, Blockify sends it to our support chat, and we reply in the same chat.
Step 1: Find the Request customization banner. It appears in Settings > Blocking template below the template preview card, and in the Blocking page editor below the template list on the left. The Dismiss (×) button closes it; if you closed it, open the editor again with Edit template to find it.

Step 2: Click Request customization. The Request template customization form opens.

Step 3: Fill in the form:
Field | Required | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
What would you like changed? | No | Tick one or more: Logo or image, Colors, Text and wording, Layout, Something else |
Describe what you need | Yes | Up to 1,500 characters. Name exact colours, wording or layout changes, e.g. "use our brand orange #FF6B35 for the button and put our logo above the heading" |
Reference link (optional) | No | A page whose look you want us to match, or a screenshot link. The form takes a link, not a file; send your logo file in the chat once the request is sent |
How soon do you need it? (optional) | No | Within 1 hour, Today, Within a week, Before an upcoming campaign or No rush |
The Sent with your request block at the bottom of the form lists the store details Blockify adds to the message for you: Store, Template in use, Plan and Admin language. You do not need to type any of it.

Step 4: Click Send request. The form closes and the support chat window opens with your request already sent. Our support team replies in the same conversation, usually within 1 business day; share references or clarify details there until the page is ready.

Who can use this feature?
Editing the template fields and Custom CSS are available on the Premium plan and above. The Blockify brandmark only shows on the Free plan. Request customization is available on all plans, at no extra cost.
FAQs
- My changes do not show on the live blocking page.
Make sure you clicked Save in the editor; Blockify keeps your changes as a draft until then. If the page still looks old, your browser may be showing a saved copy: open the page in a private (incognito) window.
- Can I use a different blocking page for Block rules and Redirect rules?
No. Redirect rules send the visitor to the web address you set in the rule and never show the blocking page. Block rules all use the one template you saved here.
- Why does my CSS change have no effect?
The same setting is also in the Style tab, which wins. Add !important to the CSS value, or change the value in the Style tab instead.
- Can I add a contact link to the page?
Yes. Put a link in the Description with a simple HTML tag, for example <a href="mailto:[email protected]">contact us</a>. See Customize your blocking page with HTML.
- Does the blocking page affect my SEO?
Good bots such as Googlebot (Google's search bot) are never blocked, so they never see the page. For other bots, turning the overlay effect off keeps your store content readable behind the blocking page.
- Is the custom blocking page really free?
Yes. Send the request with a clear description or an example and the team builds it at no extra cost.
