A complete guide: General Settings

Overview

Settings > General settings is the first tab of the Settings page. It holds the settings that apply to the whole app rather than to one protection: the language of the Blockify admin, the email reports about fraud orders, and your Admin's access URL, the link that always lets you into your own store. The master switch that turns Blockify on or off sits on Home; this guide covers it first so you know where to look.

What you'll learn

Activate Blockify

The switch that starts or pauses the whole app is the Blockify app status row on Home, next to the app embed row.

  • Click Activate Blockify to turn it on. The badge shows On and all your rules and protections run.
  • Click Deactivate Blockify to pause it. Blockify asks Deactivate Blockify? and warns that your storefront stops being protected; existing rules stay saved but none of them run until you activate Blockify again. Use this when you troubleshoot your store and want to rule out the app.

The app embed in your theme is a separate switch. See Activate Blockify and the app embed for both.

Admin language

Admin language changes the language of the Blockify admin for everyone who opens the app on this store. It has no effect on your storefront, your blocking page or your customers.

Step 1: Go to Settings > General settings.

Step 2: Open the Admin language dropdown and pick a language. The interface switches immediately; there is no Save button and no page refresh.

Blockify supports these admin languages:

  • English (default)
  • Hindi
  • Portuguese
  • Spanish
  • French
  • Italian
  • Chinese (Simplified)

Tip: The blocking page your visitors see is written in Settings > Blocking template and is not translated by this setting.

Notifications

The Notifications card controls the emails Blockify sends about orders checked by Fraud Filters: a daily summary of medium- and high-risk orders, sent at a time you choose, and instant alerts the moment Fraud Filters cancels or flags an order. Both go to the same list of up to five addresses.

Set up the daily fraud order email

Step 1: Open Settings > General settings and scroll to the Notifications card.

Step 2: Tick Receive daily emails about fraud orders, including medium-risk and high-risk orders.

Step 3: Choose when the email should arrive.

Field

What it does

Default

Timezone

The timezone used to schedule the daily report.

UTC+00:00

Send at

The time of day the report is sent, in that timezone.

12:00

For example, Timezone set to UTC+07:00 and Send at set to 08:00 delivers the report at 8:00 AM Indochina time every day.

Step 4: Under Email address, enter up to 5 addresses separated by commas. A sixth shows Limit exceeded. You can only enter up to 5 emails; a duplicate shows Email already exists.

Step 5: Click Save.

Turn on Fraud Filter alerts

Step 1: Make sure Fraud Filters is turned on and at least one tier in Risk-based actions has Cancel order automatically or Flag order selected. While Fraud Filters is off (or your plan does not include it), the option is greyed out and the card shows Want instant alerts? Enable Fraud Filter to get notified immediately. with a Learn more link.

Step 2: In the same Notifications card, tick Receive instant email alerts when a fraud order is detected by Fraud Filter under Fraud Filter alerts.

Step 3: Click Save. Alerts go to the same Email address list as the daily report.

Tip: Notify store owner inside each Risk-based actions tier controls the same alert per tier. Turn it on for the tier you want to hear about — see Configure risk-based actions for fraud orders.

What each email contains

Email

When it is sent

What it contains

Daily fraud order email

Once a day at Send at in your Timezone. Nothing is sent on days with no medium- or high-risk orders.

The medium-risk and high-risk orders found in the last day.

Fraud Filter alert

Immediately, each time a Risk-based action cancels or flags an order. You never get an alert for a low-risk order.

The order that was cancelled or flagged and the action taken.

  • The two emails are independent; changing Timezone or Send at applies from the next report.
  • Neither email changes an order. What happens to it is decided by your Risk-based actions settings.

Admin's access URL

Admin's access URL is a private link to your storefront. Visits through this link are never blocked, whatever rules and protections are on, so you can always check your store even if you blocked your own country or IP address. The card shows the link partly hidden with three buttons next to it:

Button

What it does

Show / Hide

Shows the full URL or hides it again

Copy

Copies the URL to your clipboard; a short Copied message confirms it

Refresh

Creates a new link. The old one stops working immediately

Important: Please don't disclose the link. Anyone who has it gets past every Blockify rule on your store. If you think it has been shared, click Refresh and store the new link in a password manager.

Available on all plans, including the daily fraud order email. Fraud Filter alerts are available on the Enterprise plan and above and require Fraud Filters to be on.

FAQs

  1. Does changing the admin language translate my blocking page?

No. Admin language only changes the Blockify admin. The text on the blocking page is whatever you wrote in Settings > Blocking template.

  1. Why can I not tick Fraud Filter alerts?

The option is greyed out until Fraud Filters is turned on and your store is on the Enterprise plan or above. Open Fraud Filters, turn it on, then come back to Settings > General settings.

  1. I ticked the daily email but never receive it. Why?

Check that an address is saved under Email address, that the message is not in spam, and that your store had medium- or high-risk orders that day.

  1. Can my staff use the Admin's access URL too?

Yes, as long as you share it privately. Every visit through the link is allowed, so treat it like a password and click Refresh if someone who had it leaves your team.

  1. I clicked Refresh by mistake. Can I get the old link back?

No. Refresh replaces the link permanently; copy the new one and update any place you saved the old link.

  1. I deactivated Blockify on Home. Do I have to set everything up again?

No. Rules, protections and settings stay saved. Click Activate Blockify and they run again as before.
