Connect AI assistants to search and refresh order tracking with AI (Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grok, etc.)
Bring Trakow into the AI tools your team already uses. Once connected, your team can ask AI questions about your shipments — find orders, summarize delays, draft customer replies — directly from chat, without ever leaving it to dig through your admin.
Trakow's most direct setup is with Claude. From Settings → AI Assistants, one click installs the Trakow connector into Claude in about 30 seconds. Other AI assistants — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grok, and more — work with Trakow too through the same MCP standard, with a slightly longer manual setup.

What is AI Assistants?
AI Assistants is a new section in your Trakow Settings that lets you connect Trakow to external AI tools. It uses MCP (Model Context Protocol) — an open standard that lets AI assistants securely access your tracking data, with your permission, only when you ask.
Free for all plans. You don't need to upgrade your Trakow plan to use this feature.
Before you start
To connect Claude, you'll need:
- Install Synctrack Order Tracking (Trakow) (any plan — Free, Launch, Scale, or Pro)
- A Claude account on Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise (Claude's free tier doesn't support custom connectors)
- Access to Claude Desktop or Claude.ai in your web browser
If you don't have Claude yet, sign up at claude.ai.
Connect Claude in 30 seconds

- In Trakow, go to Settings → AI Assistants.
- Click Connect to Claude. A new tab opens at Claude.ai with the Trakow connector pre-filled.
- In the Claude pop-up, review the name (Trakow) and URL, then click Add.
- You'll see a Trakow authorization screen. Sign in with your Shopify domain, then click Authorize.
- Return to the Trakow tab. The Claude card will update to show Connected.

Connecting another Claude account
You can connect multiple Claude accounts to the same Trakow store. For example, the store owner might connect their personal Claude account, and the CS team might connect a shared Claude account separately. Each connection is independent. Removing one from Claude's side won't affect the others.
What your team can ask Claude

Once connected, anyone using Claude with your store's connector can ask questions in plain English. A few examples:
- Look up any shipment: *"Where's order #1284?"*. Claude finds the order and reports its status, carrier, and delivery time — no need to open Trakow.
- Compare carrier performance: *"Which carrier has the worst on-time rate this week?". *Claude computes performance across your active carriers and gives you the breakdown.
- Draft customer replies: *"*Draft a delay notice for order #5678." Claude reads the order's status and writes a customer-ready message you can paste straight into your reply.
You're not limited to these examples. Ask Claude anything about your tracking data — find orders by customer name, summarize the week's exceptions, identify trends, or generate reports. If you can describe it, Claude can usually do it.

How your connection stays active
Your Claude connection stays active as long as your team uses it. Behind the scenes, Trakow refreshes your access token automatically every time your team has a conversation with Claude using the Trakow connector. You don't need to think about expiration or manual renewal — it just works.
If no one on your team uses the Trakow connector in Claude for 90 days in a row, the connection automatically expires. This is a security requirement that applies to all AI assistant connectors: inactive access must be revoked after a defined window. After expiration, your access token can no longer be refreshed.
If your team comes back to Trakow + Claude after a long break:
- You may see an
AUTH_REQUIREDerror in Claude when asking your first question - To restore access, go to Settings → AI Assistants in Trakow and click Connect to Claude again
- It takes 30 seconds, exactly the same as your first setup
For most active teams, you'll never see this — as long as someone uses Claude with the Trakow connector at least once every few months, the connection refreshes silently and stays alive forever.
Disconnecting Claude
You can disconnect from either side. Both work and both take effect immediately.
From Trakow
- Go to Settings → AI Assistants
- Find the connection you want to remove
- Click Disconnect
- Confirm in the modal
The connection is revoked instantly. Any further Claude conversations using that connection will return an authorization error until reconnected.
From Claude
- Open Claude.ai or Claude Desktop
- Go to Settings → Connectors
- Find the Trakow connector and click Remove
One thing to know: Trakow can't detect when you disconnect from Claude's side. If you remove the connector in Claude but Trakow still shows it as connected, click Disconnect in Trakow as well to clean up. Either side's disconnect ends the access regardless of what the other side displays.
Use a different AI client (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grok, and others)
Trakow's MCP server works with any AI client that supports custom MCP connectors. The setup pattern is similar across all of them: copy Trakow's MCP URL from Settings → AI Assistants → Use a different AI client, paste it into the client's connector settings, and complete the Trakow OAuth sign-in. Security and the 90-day inactivity rule are identical to Claude.
Here's how to do it in the most popular AI assistants:
ChatGPT (by OpenAI)
ChatGPT calls them apps. Custom MCP apps are available on Plus, Pro, and Enterprise plans, and require Developer Mode to be enabled first.

- Toggle Developer Mode on (workspace admins/owners only)
- Click Create, then paste Trakow's MCP URL and give the connector a name
- On the Trakow authorization page, enter your Shopify store domain and click Authorize.

Frequently asked questions
Question | Answer |
|---|---|
Does this cost anything? | No. AI Assistants is free on every Trakow plan. You will need a paid Claude account (Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise) to use Claude's custom connectors — that's between you and Anthropic. |
Is my data used to train AI models? | No. When you connect Trakow to Claude, data flows on-demand only when your team explicitly asks Claude a question. Anthropic doesn't train models on conversations made through custom connectors. See Anthropic's privacy policy for full details. |
Will my Claude usage count against my Trakow plan quota? | No. AI Assistant queries don't count toward Trakow's quota. Claude's usage is governed by your Claude subscription. |
How long does my connection last? | As long as you use it. Trakow refreshes the access token automatically after each conversation. If no one on your team uses the Trakow connector in Claude for 90 days in a row, the connection auto-expires for security reasons. To restore, click Connect to Claude again in Trakow Settings — it takes 30 seconds. |
Can I disconnect from Trakow? | You disconnect by removing the connector inside Claude (Claude Settings → Connectors → Remove). AI assistant connectors put access control on the AI client's side, so disconnection is always done from there. Trakow doesn't have a separate disconnect button. |
What happens if I'm inactive for more than 90 days? | Your access token auto-expires for security. Your team will get an |
Can I connect during a free trial? | Yes. AI Assistants works on all plans, including free trial. |
Can my customers ask AI about their orders? | Not through this feature. AI Assistants is for your team — the people running your store. The connection is authorized by your Trakow account, not by individual customers. |
Will I see what Claude does with my data? | Inside Claude, you'll see every question and response your team has — Claude shows the full conversation as it happens. |
