Connect your Klarna account

Connect your Klarna account

Klarna Dispute Management is marked BETA in-app — it's live this release while we finish validating, so some steps may change.

Synctrack syncs your Klarna disputes into Shopify Admin so you can read, answer, appeal or close them without opening the Klarna Merchant Portal. Klarna is the fifth gateway in the Disputes list, after PayPal, Stripe, Shopify Payment and Airwallex.

Connect with an API key

  1. Go to Settings → Payment gateway → Klarna.

  1. In the Klarna Merchant Portal, open Settings → Klarna API Keys and click Generate new API key. Create a key just for Synctrack so you can revoke it later without affecting your other integrations.

  1. Copy the username and password. The password is shown only once, when the key is created — paste it into Synctrack right away, or click Download as .txt in the Portal to keep a copy.

  1. Back in Synctrack, click Connect Klarna, paste the username and password, then click Connect.

Your region is detected automatically, and your disputes appear within a few minutes. To add another account, click Connect another Klarna account — useful if you sell in several markets with more than one Merchant ID.

Managing a connected account

  1. Replace API key — use this when you rotate or regenerate the key in Klarna. Saving replaces the key Synctrack uses for that account.
  2. Disconnect — deletes the API key and stops syncing. Disputes already synced stay visible.

The Merchant ID of an account appears automatically once its first dispute syncs. If a connection stops working, the account shows a needs reconnecting banner — replace the API key to resume syncing.

Good to know

  • Klarna API keys can't be limited to specific permissions. Synctrack only uses your key to read and manage your Klarna disputes — it never touches your money, payments or payouts.
  • Synctrack syncs disputes under Klarna's new dispute framework (FRAMEWORK_2026) only. Klarna moves all remaining accounts onto this framework on 1 November 2026, which also shortens the review window to 30 days.
  • Your Klarna account needs the Disputes API enabled. If it isn't, connecting fails with a message asking you to contact Klarna support.
  • Other connection errors: the username and password don't match, the key was disabled, or the key is already used by another Klarna account on your store.
  • Klarna dispute management is available on all plans. Attaching your store policies to a response requires the Pro plan.
