Developer settings: generate an API key

Developer settings: generate an API key

Generate a DingDoong API key for custom integrations or developer access to your scheduling data.

Available on all plans. Intended for developers / technical users.

Overview

The Developer settings let you generate an API key for programmatic access — useful if you (or your developer) want to integrate DingDoong scheduling data with other systems.

Treat the API key like a password — anyone with it can access your data via the API.

Before you start

  • You can access Settings → Advanced settings → Developer.
  • You have a developer/integration that needs the key (otherwise you don't need one).

How to generate an API key

Here's how, step by step:

Step 1: Open Developer settings

Go to Settings → Advanced settings → Developer.

Step 2: Generate the key

Click Generate to create your API key.

Step 3: Copy and store it securely

Copy the key and store it somewhere safe (a password manager or your developer's secret store).

Common scenarios

Custom integration

Provide the key to your developer to connect DingDoong data with your systems.

Rotate a key

Generate a new key if the old one may have been exposed.

Tips & Best practices

Never share your API key publicly or commit it to code repositories. If it's exposed, generate a new one.

Only generate a key if you actually have an integration that needs it.

Troubleshooting

I lost the key?

Generate a new one and update your integration with it.

The key isn't working?

Confirm you copied it fully and your integration uses it correctly; generate a fresh key if needed.

FAQ

Do I need an API key for normal use?

No — it's only for custom developer integrations.

How do I revoke a key?

Generate a new key (which replaces the old) so the previous one no longer works.
